Rashtriya Military School Eligibility Criteria

There is a certain set of criteria laid out by the Rashtriya Military Schools application form in Classes 6 and 9. Check the eligibility criteria for the RMS application form 2026-27 here.

General age criteria for Class VI and Class IX

• For admission to Class VI, there is no mandatory prior educational qualification. For Class IX admission, candidates must have passed Class VIII from a government or recognised school before the date of admission to a Rashtriya Military School. Students currently in Class V and Class VIII are eligible to appear in their respective entrance tests. It is also preferred that candidates have sufficient knowledge of English, as it is the medium of instruction in Rashtriya Military Schools.

  Age Criteria (as of March 31, 2027):

  • Class VI: Candidates aged between 10 and 13 years (born between April 1, 2014, and March 31, 2017, both days inclusive) are eligible.

  • Class IX: Candidates aged between 13 and 16 years (born between April 1, 2011, and March 31, 2014, both days inclusive) are eligible.

• A six-month relaxation in the upper age limit is permissible for the children of Armed Forces personnel Killed in Action (KIA). The accepted proof of date of birth is a School Leaving Certificate obtained from the candidate's previous school, countersigned by the District Education Officer. Certificates issued by Gram Panchayats or other local bodies are not acceptable. Any discrepancy in the date of birth or other details between the school's records and the School Leaving Certificate will result in the nullification of the child's candidature.

How to fill out the RMS CET Application Form 2026-27?

Candidates can fill out the RMS CET application form 2026-27 online by following the steps mentioned below. The application process involves online registration, filling out the application form, payment of the examination fee, etc.

• Visit the official website at exams.nta.nic.in/rmscet/.
• Look for 'Candidate Activity' on the page and click on 'RMS CET – 2026 Online Application'.
• Now click on 'RMS CET 2026 Online Application' again on the new page.
• A new tab will open. Click on 'New Registration' and complete the registration process by providing the required details.
• After successful registration, an application number will be generated. Note down the application number and password for future login and correspondence.
• Now click on 'Login' using the application number and password to proceed with the application form.
• Enter all required details, upload all documents and images in the prescribed format.
• Review all the details carefully and submit the requisite fees through the online payment mode.
• After successful payment of the fee, submit the application form.
• Download and save a copy of the page for future reference.

RMS CET Application Form 2026-27 Reservation Details Category-wise

The school has established a reservation system for seats in the following categories:

• Seventy per cent of the seats are allocated for the children of serving and retired Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs) and Other Ranks (OR) from the Army, Navy, and Air Force. Thirty per cent of the seats are designated for the children of serving and retired officers from the Army, Air Force, and Navy, as well as for civilian applicants.
• Within each category, 27%, 15%, and 7.5% of the seats are reserved for candidates belonging to the Other Backward Classes (OBC) Non-Creamy Layer, Scheduled Castes (SC), and Scheduled Tribes (ST), respectively.
• A total of 50 seats, with no more than 15 allocated to any single school, are specifically reserved for the children of personnel who have been killed in action.
• Ten per cent of the seats, or a maximum of 30 vacancies across all five Rashtriya Military Schools (RMSs), will be reserved for female candidates in Classes VI and IX.

RMS CET Syllabus 2026-27

The RMS written examination will typically be at the Class V level for admissions into Class VI and the Class VIII level for admissions into Class IX. The question paper for the entrance exam will be bilingual (in both English and Hindi) for Class VI, while it will be exclusively in English for Class IX. Students must go through the entire RMS Syllabus for Class 6 and Class 9, topic-wise, to prepare well for the exam.

Rashtriya Military Schools Admission 2026-27 Interview

Candidates who successfully pass the RMS written examination and are subsequently shortlisted will be invited for an interview at one of the Rashtriya Military Schools. The scores obtained in the interview will be combined with those from the written test to determine the final merit list. No travel or other allowances will be provided for journeys related to the Common Entrance Test or the interview.

RMS CET Result 2026-27

The list of successful candidates and the corresponding school allocations are announced by the Integrated Headquarters of the Ministry of Defence (Army), ADGAE/AE-2. No individual notifications are provided to candidates who are not successful. Nevertheless, the final RMS results are accessible on the website, rashtriyamilitaryschools.edu.in and through the Army Intranet.

Candidates will be admitted to various Rashtriya Military Schools based on their merit, determined by the total marks obtained in the admission test and the interview. The RMS selection process for admission will take into account the availability of vacancies, medical fitness, and the reservation norms established for different categories. The allocation of schools to qualified candidates will be conducted solely based on merit and the vacancies present in each institution.

Rashtriya Military School Medical Fitness

All candidates must complete a medical fitness examination before their admission to the Rashtriya Military Schools, by the standards outlined in AFMSF-2, and this examination must take place at the hospital specified in the Application Form. The medical assessments will be conducted at the hospitals listed under the section titled "LIST OF HOSPITALS FOR CONDUCT OF MEDICAL TEST."

Candidates deemed medically unfit by the board of officers at these designated hospitals will be ineligible for admission. Furthermore, candidates are expected to maintain their medical fitness throughout their tenure at the Rashtriya Military School. Admission will be considered provisional until a fitness certificate is obtained from the hospital. Requests for changes to the medical examination centre will not be entertained.
