About IEO 2018

Science Olympiad Foundation organizes the International English Olympiad annually to assess the ability of school students in the English language. SOF IEO 2018 was conducted on October 4, October 11 and October 23, 2018. IEO 2018 is conducted at two levels - Level 1 and Level 2. Level 1 is for classes 1 - 12, however, Level 2 is for classes 3 - 12 only. The students will progress to the Level 2 only if:

  • Top 5% of candidates class wise who appear in the 1st level exam. If there is a tie of marks, weightage will be given to marks scored in different sections.
  • Top 25 rank holders class wise & Zone wise.
  • Class toppers where at least 10 students from a class appear in the exam & scores 50% qualifying marks. If the registration is received section wise, the top rank holder will qualify for the 2nd level, irrespective of Section.

The result for SOF IEO 2018 has been released on November 27, 2018.

IEO 2018 Eligibility Criteria

To appear in SOF IEO 2018, students have to satisfy the following Eligibility Criteria:

  • Student must be enrolled in a school registered with SOF
  • Student must be in or between Class 1 to Class 12 to be eligible for IEO 2018
  • Student must have submitted the completely filled application form along with the due fees

Students have to be enrolled in a school to be eligible for International English Olympiad 2018. Students cannot appear in olympiad individually. School students have to take the application form for IEO 2018 from their school's Principal, Vice-Principal or Teacher In-charge. They have to fill the complete form and submit the form to the school authorities along with the due fees.

IEO 2018 Preparation Tips

To prepare for SOF International English Olympiad 2018, students are advised to devote time to each section and practice as much as they can. Here are some preparation tips for IEO 2018: 

  • Practice Reading: In Reading comprehension section, candidates will have to spent quite a while reading large passages and answering questions. To have an edge over others, practice reading and comprehension from early on.
  • Try to understand what the question is asking for: Questions in IEO 2018 will be tricky and you need to understand what the question is asking for, rather than beat around the bush. Especially in Comprehension, being aware of what the question is asking goes a long way.
  • Read plenty of books and newspapers in English: This tip will work on three levels. Firstly, reading will help you in comprehension, by increasing your reading speed. Second, it will also help in your grammar section. And finally, reading newspaper will help in your General Knowledge too.
  • Practice from sample papers: This point is highly advised by everyone who has given IEO. If you seriously want to score well in IEO 2018, practicing from sample papers and giving mock tests is very important.
  • Study Plan: Nothing advised in the above points will be possible till you make a study plan for IEO 2018 which incorporates all these points. Study plans are important because they give your hard work a right direction and shuffle your areas of study so that you do not get bored easily.

IEO 2018 Exam Pattern

The exam pattern for IEO 2018 are the guidelines followed to prepare for IEO. Students should know exam pattern so that it is easier for them to prepare for the exam. Students can see where to draw out marks from if they know the syllabus and exam pattern properly. Exam pattern for IEO 2018 is:

IEO 2018 Mock Test

Mock tests and sample papers are highly advised in IEO 2018 as they help the aspirant in figuring out the exam pattern, syllabus, standard of questions etc. Practicing sample papers also gives the aspirant a chance to do self analysis and find the chinks in their armors. Practicing sample papers and giving mock tests is very important to pave a way of sure success for IEO 2018

IEO 2018 Admit Card

The admit card for SOF IEO 2018 will be made available in school by school authorities. The admit card includes important details, such as name, enrollment number and exam schedule among others. Candidates must carry their admit card or they won’t be allowed to sit for IEO 2018

Result of IEO 2018 Level 1 has been released on November 27, 2018. Those who clear the first level of IEO will be eligible to appear for the second level. The result of IEO 2018 level 2 will be announced in second week of March, 2019.
