The Rashtriya Military School (RMS) admission application process will begin in August 2025. Eligible students will be able to apply in online mode through the official website - rashtriyamilitaryschools.edu.in/. Candidates desiring admission in RMS will have to sit for a Common Entrance Test (CET), which will tentatively take place in December 2025.
Children aged 10 to 12 years as of March 31, 2026, are eligible for admission to Class 6. Those aged 13 to 15 years as of March 31, 2026, are eligible to apply for admission to Class 9. RMS admissions are open for both Boys and Girls for Classes VI and IX, strictly under the Boarder category (no day scholars are allowed). Entry is based on merit and subject to the availability of seats.
The Rashtriya Military School admission process for the academic year 2026–27 involves an automated OMR-based entrance test, followed by an interview round and medical screening. Below are the details:
Eligible candidates must apply by filling out the RMS admission form for Class 6 or 9. The RMS application form is made available online at rashtriyamilitaryschools.edu.in. For admission to Class VI, the candidate must be between 10 and 12 years of age as on March 31, 2026. For admission to Class IX, the candidate must be between 13 and 15 years of age as on March 31, 2026.
The OMR-based written examination will be conducted in December 2025. Candidates who qualify will be shortlisted for the interview round.
Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview at a Rashtriya Military School, and the interview marks will be added to the written test score to prepare the final merit list. Those who qualify will undergo a medical examination at designated military hospitals.
Candidates found medically unfit are not admitted. Final selection is based on combined merit, medical fitness, and seat availability. The merit list and school allotment will be published online on the official website: rashtriyamilitaryschools.edu.in.

To appear for the RMS CET 2026, candidates must meet the necessary eligibility requirements. Below are the age and educational criteria for admission to Class VI and Class IX for the academic year 2026-27:
Class VI: Candidates must be aged between 10 and 12 years as on March 31, 2026 (i.e., born between April 1, 2014 and March 31, 2016, both dates inclusive).
Class IX: Candidates must be aged between 13 and 15 years as on March 31, 2026 (i.e., born between April 1, 2011 and March 31, 2013, inclusive).
A six-month relaxation in the upper age limit is allowed for wards of personnel killed in action.
For Class VI admission, candidates must have passed or be studying in Class V at the time of applying and must pass Class V before the date of admission.
For Class IX admission, candidates must have passed or be studying in Class VIII and should complete it from a government-recognised school before admission.
Since English is the medium of instruction, candidates applying for Class IX should preferably have basic proficiency in English.
Note: Students currently studying in Class 5 (for Class 6 admission) and Class 8 (for Class 9 admission) are eligible to appear in the RMS CET 2026.

The last date to submit the RMS CET application form will be in September 2025.
Candidates must ensure that the email address and mobile number provided in the online RMS application form 2026 are correct, as all the information and communication regarding the December 2025 CET exam will be sent to the same.
To register for RMS CET 2026, students have to visit rashtriyamilitaryschools.edu.in and click on ‘RMS CET 2026 Registration Link’. Read the instructions and fill in all required details. After submitting, they must note the system-generated application number sent to the candidate’s email and phone. Use this number to log in, upload scanned documents, and pay the application fee. Once payment is successful, a registration number will be sent, and students have to save it to download the Acknowledgement Receipt.

The Common Entrance Test (CET) 2026 for admission to Class VI and Class IX in Rashtriya Military Schools will be a fully automated OMR-based written examination.
Candidates must meet the minimum qualifying percentages in each subject to be considered for merit listing.
The exam pattern has been determined by the RMS, and it is different for Class 6 and Class 9. The next section, given below, mentions the RMS CET exam pattern and syllabus details.
The RMS CET will take place in December 2025. Students must get well-versed with the syllabus and exam pattern before sitting for the exam. In the following tables, we have mentioned the RMS exam pattern for the entrance examination for Classes 6 and 9.
For admission in Class 6 RMS, the written exam will be of the Class 5 level.
The medium of the question paper will be both Hindi and English.
The RMS CET December 2025 exam for class 6 will be for a total of 200 marks.
The English subject section will carry 50 marks. Candidates will be required to qualify in this section, even though English marks will not be counted in the final merit.
The Intelligence test section, Mathematics, General Knowledge and Current Affairs section will carry 50 marks each. Students will require at least 40% marks in these sections to qualify. Go through the table to check the details:

For admission in Class 9 RMS, the written exam conducted will be of the Class 8 level.
The medium of the question paper will be bilingual (Hindi and English).
The CET 2026-27 exam for class 9 will be a total of 200 marks.
CET Paper 1 will have 3 subjects - English, Hindi and Social Science. The minimum percentage to qualify for Paper 1 is 50%.
CET Paper 2 will have Maths and Science subjects carrying equal weightage each. Candidates will be required to score a minimum of 50% in Paper 2 to qualify. Check the complete details below in the table:

Note: Students can prepare for the RMS CET exam by following the NCERT Books as well. These have not been prescribed officially but are helpful.
The RMS CET 2026 admit card for appearing in the entrance exam will be available online at the official website: rashtriyamilitaryschools.edu.in. Candidates can follow these steps to download it:
Visit the official RMS website.
Look for the link titled ‘RMS CET Admit Card 2026’ under the latest updates section and click on it.
Enter the required login details (like application number or registered credentials).
Click on the ‘Download’ button to save the admit card in PDF format.
Take a printout and bring it along on the day of the exam.
The list of students shortlisted for the interview will be put up on the official website.
The RMS cut-off marks PDF, along with the students who have qualified, will be published at the official website: rashtriyamilitaryschools.edu.in.
No separate intimation will be sent. Hence, students have to keep track of the official website and take part in the interview round as per the schedule specified by the RMS.
Candidates must note that RMS will not provide any travelling allowance for the journey undertaken for the interview round.
The marks scored in the interview, along with the written test score, shall be added together to get the final merit score.
The merit list of selected candidates, along with school allotment, is published online.
Unsuccessful candidates will not receive any separate notification.

As per the guidelines of Rashtriya Military Schools, all candidates must undergo a medical fitness examination before being granted final admission for the academic session 2026-27.
Candidates who are declared medically unfit will not be eligible for admission to any RMS.
Furthermore, students are required to maintain medical fitness throughout their tenure at Rashtriya Military School.
Final admission to RMS for the 2026-27 session will be based on the following criteria:

The fee structure at Rashtriya Military Schools varies by category and includes tuition fees and caution money.
Caution Money is to be deposited at the time of admission and is refunded (without interest) when the cadet leaves the school.
School Fees are charged annually and must be paid directly to the school at the time of admission.
No tuition fee or other regular fees are charged for wards of officers, JCOs, or OR (or equivalent ranks in the Navy and Air Force) who have been killed in action.
Capitation fee and caution money are not included in this exemption and must still be paid.

Boys and girls aged 10–12 years (Class VI) or 13–15 years (Class IX) as of March 31, 2026, studying in Class V or VIII, are eligible.
Students who wish to enroll in RMS school have the opportunity to take an OMR based written examination for admission into classes 6 and 9.
