Mathematical Olympiad is a scholarship exam which is conducted for students studying in class 8 to 12. IMO has six stages which are given below:
All the stages at the national level including two training camp are administered by Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE). A student is willing to participate in these needs to register at all the stages separately after qualifying one. The registration for PRMO will begin from June 1 and conclude on July 7. The PRMO exam will be conducted on August 11, 2019. The students who qualify PRMO will have to register for RMO till the first week of October 2019. RMO exam will be conducted in the first and last week of October 2019. Thereafter HBCSE will release the list of students who qualify for INMO which will be conducted in the third week of January tentatively. Students who qualify INMO will be trained at IMO training camp which will be organised by HBCSE in April or May. Students are given various lectures and training sessions followed by test through which 6 students are selected for pre-departure training camp. It is conducted 8 to 10 days prior to the departure for IMO. IMO is the final stage of mathematical olympiad.
Candidates born on or after August 1, 2000 and those studying in Class 8, 9, 10, 11 or 12 will be eligible to sit for PRMO exam. Further, the candidates must be Indian citizens.
The best-performing students from the RMO (around 900) qualify for the third stage – the Indian National Mathematical Olympiad (INMO). The INMO will tentatively held on the third Sunday of January at 28 centres across the country.

The PRMO application process 2019 has begun on June 1, 2019. The last date to apply is July 7, 2019. Students are advised to register with their own school or college but if their institution does not opt to register themselves as a PRMO centre, then students can apply through registered centres. The application fees for the exam is Rs.230/-. The application fee for students of JNVs and KVs is Rs. 125. It must be noted that individual students cannot directly register for PRMO 2019. The exam will be conducted in KVs or JNVs.
The second stage exam, the Regional Mathematical Olympiad (RMO) is a 3 hour examination with six problems. The RMO will be offered in English, Hindi and other regional languages. The problems under each topic will involve high level of difficulty and sophistication.
The PRMO 2019 will be a 3-hour examination with 30 questions. The answer to each question is either a single digit number or a two digit number and will need to be marked on an OMR sheet. The question paper of PRMO will be in English and Hindi. The syllabus of Stage 1 and 2, i.e PRMO and RMO is broadly equivalent to senior secondary level (up to and including Class 12th) of CBSE.
The PRMO result 2019 will be declared in the third week of September, 2019 on the official website. Selected students will qualify to appear for the second stage of IMO which is RMO 2019 in the first week of October. Last year, the PRMO result was released on September 20, 2018 in online mode.
