PRMO Syllabus 2019 – Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE) has released the PRMO syllabus online. Students preparing for the mathematical Olympiad can find the syllabus for PRMO 2019 in this article, below. It includes the topics and units to be covered while preparing for the Olympiad. The questions in the HBCSE Mathematical Olympiad will be asked from the topics mentioned below, students should not get confused and waste their time studying the units not included in the PRMO syllabus Maths Olympiad.

PRMO Syllabus Maths Olympiad 2019

Students born on or after August 1, 2000, and studying in Class 8,9,10,11 or 12 are eligible to write PRMO 2019. Also, they must be Indian citizens. The syllabus of PRMO is spread over Class 11 to Class 12 levels, but the problems under each topic involve a high level of difficulty and sophistication. The difficulty level increases from RMO to INMO to IMO. Various topics covered under the PRMO syllabus class 8, 9, 10, 10, 11 and 12 are mentioned below.


Topics covered in PRMO Syllabus 2019

The syllabus for Mathematical Olympiad (regional, national and international) is pre-degree college mathematics. The areas covered are:

  • Arithmetic of integers

  • Geometry

  • Quadratic equations and expressions

  • Trigonometry

  • Co-ordinate geometry

  • System of linear equations

  • Permutations and combination

  • Factorization of polynomial

  • Inequalities

  • Elementary combinatorics

  • Probability theory and number theory

  • Finite series and complex numbers

  • Elementary graph theory

PRMO Syllabus Maths Olympiad - Important Points

  1. The syllabus of Pre-RMO 2019 does not include calculus and statistics.

  2. Candidates must note that while preparing they must cover only the topics mentioned above.

  3. Do not waste time on other topics and units.

  4. The major areas from which problems are given are algebra, combinatorics, geometry and number theory.

  5. Solve and practice PRMO sample papers to ace the Mathematical Olympiad.

PRMO Question Papers

Students must solve as many previous years’ question papers of PRMO as possible for better preparation of the exam. These PRMO question papers will make students familiarize with the exam pattern and marking scheme followed in the exam. Also, they would get to know the types of questions that do rounds in the Pre RMO exam every year. The questions in these papers shall completely be included from the syllabus of PRMO and thus will help students in analysing their preparation level.

PRMO 2019 Result

  • Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE) declares the result of PRMO exam in the third week of September.
  • The result is released in online mode which can be accessed through the official website.
  • Selected candidates will go for the next round which is Regional Mathematical Olympiad (RMO).

  • KVPY 2019 to be held on November 3, 2019.
  • NTSE 2020 to be held in the first week of November 2019.
