Admission through All India Sainik Schools Entrance Examination (AISSEE) for Classes 6 and 9.

RMS conducts Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission.

Most Sainik schools are co-ed.

There are 33 Sainik Schools and 19 new Sainik Schools across the country.There are a total of five Rashtriya Military Schools (RMS) across India.
Admission to Sainik School involves entrance tests, e-counselling and medical examinations.RMS admission process consists of an entrance test, an interview and a medical test.

Sainik School vs RMS Exam Pattern

Sainik School Exam Pattern: The AISSEE Class 6 entrance exam will have 125 questions from Mathematics, G.K, Language and Intelligence. On the other hand, the Sainik School Class 9 entrance exam will comprise 150 questions from Mathematics, English, Intelligence, General Science and Social Studies. The Sainik School entrance test will be multiple-choice or objective type. Sainik School entrance test will carry a total of 300 marks for Class 6 and 400 marks for Class 9.

RMS Exam Pattern: The RMS CET Class 6 exam questions will be based on the Class 5 CBSE curriculum, and Class 9 RMS CET exam questions will be based on the CBSE Class 8 curriculum. The RMS CET examination will be a fully automated OMR-based test. The RMS entrance test will carry 200 marks in total.
