To be eligible for the UP Sainik Schools entrance examination for the 2026-27 academic session, both the applicant and their father must be residents of Uttar Pradesh.
For admission to Class 6, applicants must have been born between July 2, 2014, and January 1, 2017 (inclusive), and must have passed Class 5 from a recognised school by May 20, 2026. This is applicable for boys seeking admission to the Lucknow campus and both boys and girls for the Gorakhpur campus.
For Class 9, candidates must have been born between July 2, 2011, and January 1, 2014 (inclusive), and must have passed Class 8 from a recognised school by May 20, 2026. Both boys and girls can apply for Class 9 at both the Lucknow and Gorakhpur campuses.
Students must clear the entrance exam to get admission to UP Sainik School. To appear for the UP Sainik School entrance exam, they need to fill out the application form. The details of the UP Sainik School application form are given below, and students can fill it out by following those steps.
Online Registration: Visit the official website of the UP Sainik School, https://upsainikschool.org/entranceexam2025/public/.

Fill Application Form: Complete the online application form with accurate personal, academic, and contact details. Fill out the online application form carefully, as all fields marked with an asterisk (*) are mandatory. Students can edit their application as many times as they need before making the final payment.
Be sure to upload a recent colour photograph and signature. The photograph should be 150 pixels wide by 200 pixels high, and the signature should be 250 pixels wide by 100 pixels high.

Upload Documents: Upload scanned copies of your photograph, signature, and other required documents as per specifications.
Pay Application Fee: Pay the application fee online of Rs 1000. Apply and take a printout of the confirmation page for future reference.
A UP Sainik School correction facility was available from November 3 to November 6, 2025, until 5 PM. During this time, students were allowed to edit the details on their application form. However, they will not be able to change their name, class, mobile number, or email ID.
The entrance exam for UP Sainik Schools will be held at various centres across Uttar Pradesh, including Agra, Ayodhya, Bareilly, Ghaziabad, Gorakhpur, Jhansi, Meerut, Prayagraj, Varanasi, and Lucknow.
When applying, candidates can select up to three preferred exam centres. The school administration will then assign one of these centres to the applicant. However, in extraordinary circumstances, a different centre not on the applicant's list may be assigned. The final decision on the exam centre allocation rests solely with the school administration, and no requests for changes will be considered.
Applicants can download and print their UP Sainik School admit cards after December 5, 2025, by logging in to their account with their credentials. Be sure to paste the same recent photograph on the UP Sainik School admit card that the candidate uploaded with their application.
After the written UP Sainik School entrance exam, a merit-based shortlist of candidates will be announced on the school's official website, www.upsainikschool.org, approximately 10 days after the exam date. Shortlisted applicants must complete a medical examination using the school's specific format and then appear for an interview at the school campus on the designated dates. The final merit list will be determined based on the candidate's performance in the written exam, the medical examination results, and the interview, with the school's reservation policy also taken into account.

Transfer Certificate (TC): An original TC from your previous school, countersigned by the competent authority and including your Permanent Education Number (PEN).

Caste Certificate: The original and a self-attested copy of the applicant's caste certificate.
Birth Certificate: The original and a self-attested copy of the applicant's birth certificate, issued by the Nagar Nigam/Nagar Palika/Zila Panchayat Adhikari.
Aadhaar Card: A self-attested copy of the Aadhaar card for the applicant and both parents.
Mark Sheet: The original mark sheet for Class 5 (for Class 6 admission) or Class 8 (for Class 9 admission).
Legal Bonds:
An Agreement bond on a Rs 100 non-judicial stamp.

For the 2026–27 session, the last date to apply was 30 October 2025.
