    The Government of West Bengal has introduced the Swami Vivekananda Merit cum Means scholarship 2026-27 (SVMCM V4.2) to support students of West Bengal belonging to economically backwards families. Students who wish to receive financial support for their school (Class 11 to 12), undergraduate college, or university for higher studies can apply for the SVMCM V4.2 Scholarship. The SVMCM applications for the academic year 2026-27 will tentatively begin in November 2026. The Swami Vivekananda scholarship amount ranges from Rs 1000 to Rs 8000 per month, based on the merit of the students.

    Eligibility Criteria for Swami Vivekananda Scholarship 2026-27

    The candidates who are going to apply for the Swami Vivekananda Scholarship 2026-27 must fulfil the eligibility criteria set by the Government of West Bengal. The eligibility criteria include the following, based on the educational level.

    For Class 11, 12

    • The annual family income must not exceed Rs 2,50,00.
    • Permanent residents of West Bengal are eligible for this scholarship.
    • Candidates pursuing secondary education in West Bengal.
    • The minimum qualifying marks must be 60% in aggregate in their Madhyamik Pariksha.

    For UG College

    • The candidates must have 60% in aggregate in high school examinations conducted by the West Bengal Council of H.S. Education or Madrasha Siksha Parishad.
    • Must have separate merit lists for UG Arts, Commerce, and Science courses.

    For PG University

    • During graduation, the candidates must have scored 53% marks in their honours subjects.
    • The Kanyashree beneficiaries who completed their undergraduate degree with 45% aggregate marks and are enrolled in the PG programs in Arts, Science, and Commerce.
    • The Kanyashree students applying for the scholarship will not require the income certificate.

    For Research Level

    • The candidates who are pursuing M.Phil. or PhD research, non-NET candidates, and NET LS are eligible for the SVMCM.
    • The NET-LS scholars must inform their university authorities upon appointment as teachers.

    The candidates need the following documents to apply for the Swami Vivekananda scholarship.

    • Income Certificate
    • Income Affidavit
    • Aadhaar Card/Ration Card/Voter ID
    • Marksheet from the last examination
    • Madhyamik Pariksha Admit card or the relevant document
