First Phase: A draw of lots is conducted for 10 seats in each section from applications submitted by SC/ST/EWS/BPL/OBC candidates.
Second Phase: According to the priority category system, the remaining 30 seats in each section are filled.
Each KV in Chandigarh fills every seat from classes 2 to 8 using the priority category system.
If more applications than seats are available in a particular category, the draw of lots system may be used.
An admissions test is held to allot seats in the 9th class to deserving students.
Questions on the admissions test are drawn from the subjects of Hindi, English, mathematics, science, and social science.
The Kendriya Vidyalaya Chandigarh admission test is conducted for three hours and is worth 100 marks.
For general students, the cutoff is 33%, while for students in the SC/ST/PH category, it is 25%.
The priority-based system presents each category of students separately and is used to create the KV Chandigarh class 9 merit list.
