The admission procedure for KV in Mysore is the same as described in the KVS admission guidelines, which vary per class. Throughout the Kendriya Vidyalaya Mysore admission procedure, a priority category system and a lottery are used. The following is the entrance method for each class:
25% of seats are filled through a lottery drawn from applications submitted by SC/ST/EWS/BPL/OBC/PH students.
The remaining seats are filled in accordance with the priority category system.
If the number of applicants exceeds the number of available vacant seats, the system of lotteries is used.
To fill the vacant seats in class 9, a three-hour admission test is held.
The admission test includes questions from the fields of Math, Hindi, English, Science, and Social Science.
The exam is worth 20 points for each subject and a total of 100 points.
To qualify for the exam, general students must score at least 33%, whereas restricted category students must score 25%.
All KV Class 10 students are enrolled on KV Mysore Class 11.
The streams are assigned based on their performance in the Class 10 exams.
If there are still spaces available after accepting KV students, the Kendriya Vidyalaya Mysore class 11 entrance is extended to non-KV students.
Non-KV students are admitted via the priority category procedure.
Students who apply immediately after passing their class 9 and 11 exams are admitted to class 10 and 12.
To be admitted to classes 10 and 12, the student must have received 55% in aggregate in classes 9 and 11.
To grant KV Mysore admission to students, the authorities employ a priority category approach.
In this case, a predetermined preference order is followed, and students from a higher-priority category are admitted instead of students from a lower-priority group.
If seats remain empty after accepting students with higher priority, Kendriya Vidyalaya Mysore 2026 admissions are granted to students from other categories in the following preference sequence.
This method is used to grant admission to KV Mysore from class 1 onwards.
A five-member committee is formed to oversee the lottery system.
Based on their observations, one student's application is chosen from among the applications and the student is admitted.
After gaining admission to KV in Mysore, a student's parents must submit the necessary documentation.
