Before applying in the schools of KV under Mumbai Kendriya Vidyalaya, parents and students are advised to go through the required criteria such as age requirement, criteria for admissions to class I to IX, qualifying scores for admission to class XI etc.
Important points for age requirement
For admission in class I, a child must be 5 years old as on March 31, 2019. Also, a child born on April 1 will also be considered for class I admission.
There is no certain minimum and maximum age limit for KV admission in Class XI and XII.
For physically disabled children, the maximum age limit can be relaxed by 2 years on the recommendation of the principal

There are two phases for admission; in first phase admission will be done on the basis of lottery draw of application forms of candidates.
In second phase, admissions will be done on priority category system.
There will be around 40 seats available in class I.
Around 25% of seats per section per class will be reserved for SC, ST, OBC, EWS, and BPL categories of students.
There is no admission test conducted for class II to VIII.
Allotment of seats is done through priority category allotment system.
The decision for admission will rest upon KV body on how they want to carry out the admission process.
An admission test will be conducted in the subjects of Hindi, English, Mathematics, Science and Social Science.
Merit list will be prepared and displayed for each category student of priority separately.
The duration of test is of 3 hours and consist of 1 paper.
Total marks of question paper is 100 and each subject comprises of 20 marks.
Students have to obtain 33% marks in aggregate to qualify and there will be marks relaxation for SC/ ST/ Physically Handicapped candidates that is 25% marks in aggregate.
There is a minimum qualifying score required by the candidate for admission to class 11 based on the marks scored in 10th board result.
For Science - Minimum 55 % of marks in aggregate of all subjects.
For Commerce - Minimum 50 % of marks in aggregate of all subjects.
For Humanities - All students of KV are eligible if declared successful in class 10 board exam.
In case of two or more candidates obtaining equal marks in aggregate of all subjects in class 10, the inter-se merit of such candidates will be determined as follows -
Candidates obtaining higher marks in Maths will get preference in admission.
If two or more candidates have got the same marks in Maths, then the candidates securing higher marks in Maths and Science taken together will get preference over the others.
In case of a tie between two or more candidates obtaining same marks in maths and science taken together, the student older in age according to the date of birth will be given preference over the other.
Admission to class X and XII other than KV students will be entertained based on the vacancies existing.
If the class strength in class X and XII is below 40, the Deputy Commissioner of the concerned KV region will then consider admission to these two classes.
The above may change according to the following conditions:
Candidate must not have obtained less than 55 % aggregate in 9th standard for admission in class X.
Candidate must not have obtained less than 55% marks in 11th standard for admission to class XII.
Candidate passed from CBSE affiliated school will be given preference and combination of subjects opted by the candidate should be available in KV.
Admission of students from N.I.OS. / State Boards/ ICSE for admission in class 11 in Kendriya Vidyalaya - The students of these boards will be considered for admission in class XI only if vacancies exist.
The registration cum application form will be available in the official website of KVS by March 2019. Application forms will also be available with the respective principal of KVS schools at the start of the academic year, 2019. Candidates should submit only completed application forms to the respective KVS schools on the date as notified by the school authorities.
Steps to follow for application form of KV Mumbai 2019
Candidates should visit the official page of Kendriya Vidyalaya and click on the link for admission.
The application window will open and candidates have to fill it with valid details.
Upload recent photo and signature and then click on submit.
Candidates should take the printout of the completed application form, attach all the relevant documents and submit it to the respective campus of KV.
Girl students from class I to XII are exempted from paying the tuition fee.
However, they need to pay the fee for Vidyalaya Vikas Nidhi (VVN) which is common to all students.
All girl students from classes VI to XII who happen to be the only child of their parents are exempted from paying the tuition fees, computer fund and VVN.
Fee exemption categories
No tuition fee for boys upto Class VIII, and SC/ST students and children of KVS employees.
Children of parents having BPL card are also exempted from paying the fees.
Children of officers and men of armed forces and paramilitary personnel killed or disabled are also exempted from paying the tuition fees.
Candidates must not forget to submit the following list of documents along with the KV admission form
For class 1, birth certificate and residence proof.
For children of State/ Central government employees, ex-servicemen- proof of relationship with parents and a certificate showing the past 7 years transfer.
For SC/ ST/ OBC category of candidates - caste certificate has to be submitted
For students under BPL (Below Poverty Line), BPL certificates issued by competent state authorities.

This facility is applicable only for the children of those parents of defence and civil sector and institutes of higher learning who have been transferred during the current session after the registration process is over. Admission will be granted on the basis of first-cum first serve immediately when parent approaches for admission in the Vidyalaya.
