Department of Higher Education (Ministry of Education, Government of India) has started the applications for the Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship (CSSS) for College and University students. This scholarship is being provided under Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Protsahan (PM-USP) Yojana and is available for renewal till September 30, 2026. Through CSSS 2026, PM USP scholarship provides financial assistance to meritorious students pursuing higher education. Students require 80 per cent marks in Class 12 to be eligible for the PM-USP CSSS scholarship scheme. Around 82,000 fresh scholarships are awarded every year. PM USP CSSS scholarship is provided to undergraduate and postgraduate students. They will be provided Rs 12000 to 20000 per annum as per their course and stream. The PM-USP application is done through the NSP portal.

The PM-USP Scholarship disbursement is made directly into Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Students can check PM-USP Scholarship eligibility below.
Academic merit: Must score above 80 per cent in the respective Class 12 board examination (CBSE, CISCE, or State Boards).
Course type: Pursuing a regular, full-time degree course (undergraduate/integrated) at an AICTE/UGC-recognized institution. Correspondence, distance, or diploma courses are not eligible.
Family income: Annual gross parental/family income must not exceed Rs 4.5 Lakh.
No Dual Scholarship: Must not be receiving any other government scholarship or full fee waiver.
Gap year: Students who took a drop year after Class 12 are generally not eligible for fresh applications.
The PM-USP Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students follows a defined allocation and reservation system to ensure that scholarships are distributed fairly across gender, academic streams, social categories, and students with benchmark disabilities.
The PM USP CSSS scheme provides for an equal distribution of scholarships between male and female students:

The PM USP CSSS scheme also follows the Government of India reservation policy for eligible categories:

The applications are submitted online through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). Student credentials such as educational qualifications and caste details may be verified through DigiLocker. It must be followed by verification by the institution and the concerned State Higher Education Department/State Nodal Agency.
NSP registration: Register for the PM-USP scholarship on the National Scholarship Portal (scholarships.gov.in) and complete One Time Registration (OTR) using Aadhaar/Face-authentication. re
Choose Scholarship: Select "PM-USP Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students".
Upload Documents: Upload essential verification documents (Class 12 mark sheet, income certificate, caste certificate, DigiLocker credentials).
Application verification: Applications are verified at two levels: first by the Institution Nodal Officer (INO) and then by the State Nodal Officer (SNO).
Amount Disbursement: Funds are disbursed directly to an Aadhaar-seeded bank account via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
After submitting the application, students can track their NSP Payment online through student login.

To continue receiving the scholarship in the coming years,
Students must secure a minimum of 50% marks in their annual or semester examinations
Maintain at least 75% attendance and remain in good disciplinary standing at their enrolled institution.
The scholarship can generally continue for a maximum of five years. It depends on the applicable course and renewal rules.

The CBSE Class 10 Board Exam 2026–27 dates have not been announced yet. The exams are most likely to be held around February–March 2027. Until the 2026–27 papers are available, you can refer to the CBSE Class 10 previous year Question Papers and practise them.
