Before applying for Navodaya Vidyalaya admission in class 9, students must understand the criteria they must meet to be eligible for class 9. They can only apply if they meet the qualifying requirements listed below.
- Applicants must pass the 8th class exam from a recognised/government board in order to be considered for the JNVST 9th admission test 2026.
- Students must reside & study in the same district where JNV is functioning and admission is sought.
- Students taking the test must complete Class 8 from a Govt./Govt. Recognised school during the academic year 2026.
- Students must have been born between May 1, 2011 and July 31, 2013 (both days included) to be eligible for the exam. For students in the reserved category, there is no age relaxation.
- Only Indian Nationals who are studying in India are eligible to apply.
- Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti reserves the right to refer any student to a medical board for verification of their age in case of any doubt regarding the JNV class 9 age limit.
- Students belonging to the SC and ST categories must present a caste certificate if they are selected. It is necessary to produce and submit these documents to the Principal of the respective JNV.
JNVST Class 9 Selection Process

- There is no option for re-checking or re-totalling either.
- Students will only be admitted to Navodaya Vidyalayas for which they will take the Navodaya 9th class entrance exam.

Hello,
Navodaya Vidyalaya admission for Class 9 (session 2025-26) is through the Lateral Entry Selection Test (LEST) . The online application form was available from July 30, 2025 to October 21, 2025 on the official website of NVS.
There is no application fee . Students studying in Class 8 during 2025-26 in a recognised school and belonging to the district where the JNV is located are eligible to apply.
The selection test will be held on 7th February 2026 . The exam will be of 2 hours 30 minutes duration with questions from English, Hindi, Mathematics and Science for a total of 100 marks.
