The Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti establishes and determines the NVS Class 6 eligibility criteria 2025. There are currently 661 Navodaya Vidyalayas across the country, out of which 653 are functional. Candidates must take the JNVST admission test to get admission to the Navodaya Vidyalayas.

It is necessary to meet the JNV eligibility criteria 2025-26 before submitting the JNVST application form 2025-26. Candidates who will successfully clear Class 5th during the academic year 2025-26 are qualified to apply for Navodaya Vidyalaya admission 2025. No applicant is permitted to take the exam a second time.

Navodaya Vidyalaya Class 6 Eligibility Criteria 2025-26 for All Candidates

It is very important to check Navodaya's eligibility for Class 6 before applying. Every student is required to fulfil the NVS Eligibility criteria 2025-26. The Navodaya Vidyalaya Class 6 Eligibility Criteria 2025-26 is outlined below:

  • Residence: The only applicants who are eligible to apply are those who reside in the district where Navodaya Vidyalaya has been established.
  • Navodaya Vidyalaya age limit for class 6: JNVST applicants must have been born between May 1, 2014, and July 31, 2016 (both dates included). There is no age relaxation for any reserved categories. Every student has to fulfil the age limit for Navodaya Vidyalaya for Class 6.
  • Educational Qualification: Candidates must be studying in a government-funded or other recognised school in class 5 during the academic year 2025-26.
  • Candidates who will complete the National Institute of Open Schooling's 'B' certificate competence course on or before September 15, 2024, are also eligible.
  • A candidate is ineligible to apply if they have not been accepted and promoted to Class-V on or before July 31, 2024.
  • If a candidate has taken the JNVST exam before, he or she does not qualify to apply since no candidate is allowed to take the exam a second time.

Navodaya Vidyalaya Class 6 Eligibility Criteria 2025-26 for Rural Candidates

Below, we have listed key points of Navodaya 6th class eligibility. The NVS has some different Navodaya eligibility for class 6 rural candidates:

  • For admission under the rural quota, a candidate must have completed Class 3rd, 4th, and 5th in a Government/Government Aided/Government recognised school(s) located in a rural area.
  • The candidate must study in the 5th class from the same district where Vidyalaya is situated.
  • Candidates studying under the schemes of NIOS need to provide their rural status certificate issued by the District Magistrate / Tehsildar / Block Development Officer.
  • A minimum of 75% of the seats in a district will be filled by candidates from rural areas, and the remaining seats by candidates from urban areas.

Navodaya Vidyalaya Class 6 Eligibility Criteria 2025-26 for Urban Candidates

  • A candidate will be deemed an urban candidate if they attended 3rd, 4th, and 5th Class in an urban school for even one day.

Eligibility for Admission in Navodaya Vidyalaya for Transgender Candidates

  • There are no separate reservation criteria for transgender candidates.
  • They will be included in the Boys category, under various sub-categories such as Rural, Urban, SC, ST and Divyang.

How to Fill out the NVS Class 6 Admission Form?

  • Registration: First, the candidate's parent or guardian has to go to the NVS admissions portal and register the applicant with the necessary information.
  • Filling out the Application form: The next step is to log in with the registration ID and password they created during registration. After that, complete the application form with personal and other details and attach the necessary documents.

Documents to be Submitted After Selection in JNVST

Candidate's parents/guardians are required to submit these documents during the admissions process:

  • Residence Certificate in the prescribed form.
  • Proof of date of birth. If, however, any doubt arises, a medical board will verify it.
  • Proofs of eligibility as per the conditions of JNVs.
  • For candidates seeking admission under the rural quota, their parents will also have to submit a certificate concerning the child having studied in an institution situated in a rural area.
