Alternatively, students can download the Region-wise PDF Merit List. This list contains the roll numbers of candidates provisionally selected for the specific JNV in your district.
Provisional NVS admission: Selection in the written test is "provisional." The final seat is confirmed only after the verification of documents (including residence, category, and Class 8 marksheet) at the respective Vidyalaya.
Waiting List: NVS does not release a second merit list immediately. However, if a selected student does not take admission or is found ineligible, the vacant seat is offered to the next candidate on the JNVST waiting list.
No Re-evaluation: There is no provision for re-checking or JNVST re-evaluation of the answer sheets.
If the student's name appears on the selection list, keep the following ready for the school visit:
Class 8 Marksheet/Certificate from a Government or Government-recognised school.
Date of Birth Certificate.
Residence Certificate (District-specific).
Category Certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/Divyang, if applicable).
Aadhaar Card of the student.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
JNVST cut-offs vary by district based on the number of vacant seats. However, general trends for the 100-mark paper (Maths, Science, English, Hindi) are:
General Category: 80-85+
OBC Category: 75-80
SC/ST Category: 65-70
Rural students have a slightly lower NVS cut-off than urban students due to the reservation policy.
NVS does not always publish a waiting list publicly. However, if a selected student fails to submit documents or chooses not to join, the seat is offered to the next highest scorer in that specific category/district. The school will contact waiting-list candidates directly via phone or post.
No, the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti clearly states that there is no provision for re-checking or re-evaluation of the answer scripts. The JNVST Class 9 results declared on the portal are final.
Students will need their roll number and date of birth to check the Class 9 JNVST result 2026.
