The NVS conducts the class 6 exam in two phases. The NVS Class 6 Phase 1 exam was held on December 13, 2025, whereas the Phase 2 exam was held on April 11, 2026. The NVS waiting list 2026 is prepared by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti to fill vacant seats after the first round of admissions. In case a student does not report to their allotted seat after the selection within the given time, then those seats are offered to students who are listed in the NVS 2026 waiting list. Students can access the Navodaya waiting list online through the official website. Below, we have provided general steps to check the NVS waiting list 2026.
Go to the official website at navodaya.gov.in.
Find the “Admissions” or "Admission Notification" section.
Click on the link related to the "Waiting List for Class 6th & 9th"
Enter the candidates' roll number and date of birth, as printed on their JNVST admit card, in the required fields.
Click on the "Submit" button.
The Navodaya Selection List 2026 will be displayed on the screen.
Review the list carefully and print it for the candidates' records if necessary.
NVS follows certain reservation policies during the Navodaya admission process, and the same reservation policy is applied when a seat becomes available from the waiting list.
Rural Area Students: At least 75% of the seats are reserved for students from rural areas.
SC/ST Categories: Reservations are provided for Scheduled Caste (15%) and Scheduled Tribe (7.5%) students in proportion to their population in the district, but not less than the national average.
OBC Category: 27% of seats are reserved for Other Backwards Classes (OBC) - Non-Creamy Layer students.
Girl Student: 1/3 of the seats are reserved for girls.
Persons with Disabilities: 3% of seats are reserved for children with disabilities (Orthopedically Handicapped, Hearing Impaired, and Visually Handicapped).
