The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) was established in November 1989 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. It is responsible for conducting on-demand and public exams for secondary and senior secondary classes, as well as D.El.Ed exams. Students must fulfil the eligibility criteria before filling out the NIOS 2026 exam registration form.
The NIOS conducts the exams for Class 10, Class 12, and vocational courses in April and October every year. NIOS Admission 2026
The NIOS class 12th and 10th admissions are held twice in a year: April (Block 1) and October (Block 2).
For the October session, the last date for NIOS 10th and 12th admission falls on January 31, without any late fee. However, students can apply for NIOS admission until March 15 with late fee charges.
For the April session, the last date for NIOS 10th and 12th admission falls on July 31, without any late fee. However, if any student misses the date, then they can apply until September 15 with a late fee. Know about the NIOS 2026 exam fees.
After filling out the NIOS admission form 2026, submit the required documents, such as the marksheet of class 8 (for admission in class 10), the marksheet of class 10 (for admission in class 10), your signature, and an Aadhaar card, etc. After this, complete the payment of the fee, download the NIOS registration form, or note down the enrollment number for future reference.
National Institute of Open Schooling 2026 Exam Dates
NIOS is responsible for releasing the exam dates for classes 10, 12, and D.El.Ed exams for both sessions. For the April session 2025, the NIOS exam was held from April 9 to May 19, 2025. Whereas the exam for the October session will be conducted from October 14 to November 18, 2025, for Class 10 and Class 12.

NIOS Subjects 2026
The NIOS subject code and related details are available on the official website. The NIOS Subjects for 10th 2026 consist of Science, Social Science, Maths, English, Hindi, etc. Along with that, it has 11 subjects and 17 languages.

National Institute of Open Schooling examination centres are allotted to students on a first-come, first-served basis.
