RTE MP Admission 2026 Eligibility Criteria

• Neighbourhood Priority: To qualify, families must reside within the neighbourhood settlements designated for the specific school.

• Age Limits: The age for Pre-Primary is calculated as of July 31, 2026, and for Class 1 as of September 30, 2026.

3. KG-2: 5 to 6.5 years.

4. Class 1: 6 to 7.5 years

Who are the disadvantaged groups and weaker sections?

The eligibility for RTE MP admissions is categorised into two primary groups: Disadvantaged Groups and Weaker Sections.

• Disadvantaged Groups: This category includes children from scheduled castes (SC), scheduled Tribes (ST), and Vimukta Jatis (denotified tribes). It also extends to children from forest land leasehold families, those diagnosed with HIV, and children with a certified disability of 40 per cent or more.

RTE MP Admission 2026 Application Rules

• Online Only: Applications must be filed on rteportal.mp.gov.in, and offline hard copies will not be accepted by schools.

• School Selection: Applicants can select a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 10 schools.

1. Applicants must register online through the official RTE portal (rteportal.mp.gov.in) using the prescribed form.

2. Next, they have to scan and upload at least one valid document related to the reserved category (disadvantaged group or weaker section) with the application.

3. After submission, the applicant must download and safely keep the portal-generated acknowledgement receipt and verification form.

4. Only one application is permitted per student; multiple applications will lead to cancellation.

Mandatory Document Verification

• Following the online submission, applicants must take all original documents to a designated Jan Shiksha Kendra (Government Public Education Centre) for physical verification.

• Students must carry the mobile phone registered as "Mobile Number-1" to the centre to provide the required OTP during the process.

• Verification officers will cross-check the online data against original records for age, residence, and category eligibility.

• Only those found "eligible" during this physical verification will be included in the centralised online lottery system

Consequences of Non-Compliance

RTE MP Admission 2026 Online Lottery and Selection Criteria

Incomplete, inaccurate, or duplicate applications will be automatically rejected. 1. First Priority (Local): Preference is given to children residing within the same village (Rural) or the same ward (Urban) where the school is located.

• SMS Alerts: Once the randomised online lottery is complete, successful applicants will receive an official notification via SMS on their registered mobile number (Mobile Number-1).

School Reporting and Admission Finalisation

• Appointment of nodal officers: To ensure a smooth and monitored admission process, a Nodal Officer is appointed for every recognised, non-grant-aided private school with the formal approval of the District Collector.

• Transparency and access: Each nodal officer is digitally mapped to their respective school on the RTE portal. Parents can access the contact details of these officers directly through the portal to receive guidance during the RTE MP admission phase.

• The RTE MP admission process: Once the online lottery concludes and an allotment letter is generated, the applicant must report to the assigned school. The RTE MP admission is finalised by the nodal officer after verifying the allotment letter and all original supporting documents.

• Verification of credentials: The school and the Nodal Officer will conduct a final review of the student's eligibility documents (Age, Category, and Residence) to ensure they match the verified data from the portal before formally securing the seat.

Important Instructions for RTE Admission

1. Restriction on re-admission: Any applicant who has previously received free education in a private school, or is currently enrolled in a private school under this provision, is ineligible to apply again.

2. Document Retention: After completing the online application, applicants must safely keep the acknowledgement receipt (pavti) and the verification form.

3. Mandatory Physical Verification: Once the online application is submitted, the applicant must download the verification form from the RTE portal. It is mandatory to visit the designated Jan Shiksha Kendra (Public Education Centre) within the specified timeline with original documents, photographs, the verification form, and the online receipt.

4. Consequences of Non-Attendance: Failure to appear for document verification with original records within the prescribed time limit will result in the automatic cancellation of the application.

5. Information Accuracy: During verification, all details, including the student's name, parents' names, date of birth, residence proof, and RTE category,y must match the original documents. Any discrepancy will lead to the application being declared invalid.

6. OTP Verification: An OTP (One-Time Password) will be sent to the "Mobile Number-1" registered in the application at the time of verification. Therefore, it is mandatory to carry that mobile phone to the verification centre.

7. Single Application Rule: Only one application may be submitted per student. If more than one application is found for the same student, all such applications will be cancelled.
