The Central Board of Secondary Education uses the CBSE OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) sheet for the assessment of the Class X and XII examinations. Students appearing for the CBSE 10th and CBSE 12th board examinations must have complete knowledge about the CBSE OMR sheet. Candidates should only use a blue/black ballpoint pen while filling out the OMR sheet information. They should not use a pencil as it is strictly prohibited. How to Fill the CBSE OMR 2026 Sheet?

Students who are going to appear for the CBSE board examination must go through all the instructions regarding the CBSE OMR sheet. They must know how to fill out the OMR sheet in detail. Some candidate details will be pre-filled in the CBSE 2026 OMR sheet.

  • After receiving the OMR sheet from the invigilator, candidates have to write the question paper code in the upper right corner in the space provided.

  • Students can find the question paper code in the respective subject question paper.

  • He/she must write “I confirm that all particulars given above are correct” in the space provided and sign in the running hand on the CBSE OMR sheet.

  • Candidates should only use a blue/black ballpoint pen to fill out the OMR sheet. They must avoid using a pencil and will be considered as unfair means in CBSE board exam.

  • Space to answer 60 questions irrespective of the total questions of any subject.

  • Students should use maximum circles as per the total questions given in the question paper to give responses in serial.

  • Answers provided after the maximum number of questions will not be evaluated.

  • Candidates must give a response to the question in the 4 circles provided, i.e., a, b, c, and d, if they are confident enough. They must darken the circle with a pen.

  • Students will have to write the correct option in the box provided next to the options in the same row.

  • If a candidate does not attempt any question, they must darken the circle given after the box where the question number is mentioned.

  • If students are confident about the response, they must darken the circle as well as write the option in the box given next to the options.

  • Response written in the box will be considered as the final.

  • If the circle is marked and the box is empty, it will be considered as the question has not been attempted. That particular question will not be evaluated.

Mistakes to Avoid While Filling the CBSE OMR Sheet

Candidates must be aware of this while filling out the OMR sheet. Check out the points below to avoid the common mistakes.

  • Make sure you fill in the correct roll number and subject code circles before submitting the sheet.

  • Do not use a gel pen or pencil while filling out the CBSE OMR sheet 2026. Always use a blue or black ballpoint pen as prescribed in the CBSE guidelines.

  • Do not mark two answers for one question. The OMR sheets will be machine-scanned, and marking multiple circles will lead to rejection.

  • Do not fold, staple, or tear the CBSE OMR sheet. It should be clean of unnecessary marks or overwriting. Don’t crumble the sheet corners or leave marks.
