National Standard Examination in Physics - NSEP

Students who fulfil the following criteria prescribed by the conducting body are eligible for the NSEP 2026-27.

• Must be a citizen of India. 

• Date of birth between July 1, 2007 and June 30, 2012, both days inclusive.

• Must have been residing and studying in India since November 30, 2024 or earlier.

Or must be studying in an Indian school system since November 30, 2024 or earlier. 

• Must not have completed Class 12th board examination earlier than November 30, 2026.

• Must not have commenced studies in a university or equivalent institution by June 1, 2027.

• Must not be appearing in NSEJS 2026-27.

Students can register for the NSEP 2026-27 through their designated centres or directly through the official website of IAPT. They will have to pay an application fee of Rs 300 through bank transfer or online payment. The exam fee is non-refundable. 

Steps to Apply for NSEP Exam 2026-27

• Visit the official website at iapt.org.in.

• On the homepage, check the ‘Latest Notification’ section and click on the ‘NSEP 2026-27 Registration’ link.

• Now, enter all the necessary details on the NSEP student registration page and generate an OTP.

• After OTP verification, generate the login credentials and log in again.

• Next, submit the required documents and other details.

• Pay the application fee and click on the ‘Submit’ button to complete the registration process for NSEP 2026-27.

Students must get familiar with the NSEP exam pattern before applying for the examination. 

• The NSEP 2026-27 exam consists of two parts.

• Part 1 consists of 48 multiple-choice questions with one correct answer out of the given options, and Part 2 includes 12 MCQs with one or more correct answers.

• The total marks for NSEP 2026-27 are 216.

• There will also be a penalty of 1 mark for each wrong answer, and 3 marks will be added for each correct answer in Section A. There will be no negative marking, and each correct answer fetches 6 marks for Section B.

• The NSEP question papers PDF for previous years and mock tests are available for students who wish to appear for the exam.

• Students can analyse their preparation level and know the difficulty level of the exam by using these NSEP exam question papers.

• IAPT is expected to release the NSEP admit card 2026-27 in October 2026.

• Students can download their admit card from iapt.org.in.

• They will need to enter their NSEP registration number to access the NSEP hall ticket 2026-27. 

The National Standard Examination in Physics (NSEP) is expected to be released in December 2026. Students can download the NSEP answer key 2026-27 from the official website, iapt.org.in. Students can access the NSEP answer key PDF to know the correct answers and calculate their exam scores. Various institutions also publish the unofficial NSEP answer key 2026-27 immediately after the exam.

The Indian Association of Physics Teachers will announce the NSEP result 2026-27 on December 25, 2026. Students can check their results from the official website at iapt.org.in. After the NSEP exam results are announced, the toppers from each State/Union Territory will be eligible for the Stage 2 exam, i.e., Indian National Olympiads (INOs) in their respective subjects.
