The VJNT Scholarship is one of the major scholarship schemes implemented by the VJNT, OC and SBC Welfare Department to financially support students belonging to the Vimukta Jati (VJ), Nomadic Tribes (NT) and Special Backwards Classes (SBC) categories. The application process for the VJNT Maharashtra Scholarship 2026-27 began on June 1, 2026. Eligible students can apply for the scholarship till September 30, 2026, through the official portal at mahadbt2.maharashtra.gov.in. To apply for the VJNT Scholarship Maharashtra 2026-27, students must be a domicile of Maharashtra state. The Maharashtra Government has started the application process for the VJNT scholarship 2026-27. Students are advised to follow the table below to know the latest updates regarding the scholarship dates.

Candidates applying for the Maharashtra VJNT Scholarship 2026-27 must fulfil the following criteria to get the full benefit of the scholarship.
Candidates must be a permanent resident of Maharashtra and belong to the Vimukta Jati (VJ), Nomadic Tribes (NT) or Special Backwards Classes (SBC) categories.
The annual family income should not exceed Rs. 2.50 lakh.
The candidate must be studying a post-matric course from a government-recognised educational institution.
For professional courses, admission of the candidate should be completed through the CAP process.
The candidate must maintain at least 75% attendance for the current academic year.
Maintenance allowance and examination fee reimbursement are provided only if the student is promoted to the next higher class.
If a student fails in the particular academic year, the scholarship benefit will not be provided until the student is promoted to the next higher class.
The VJNT scholarship will not be paid to the students from the date he /she accepts another Scholarship/stipend.
In a family, only two boys are eligible for the scholarship, but there is no restriction on the number of girl students.
Students shifting from a non-professional course to a professional course may remain eligible for the scholarship, but students shifting from a professional course to a non-professional course are not eligible for this scheme.
Scholarship benefits are generally available until the completion of one academic course. Students who have completed one course and take admission in another course of the same level will not be eligible. But if a candidate takes admission in a professional course may receive benefits under this scholarship scheme.
Students who discontinue or change their existing professional or non-professional course after getting benefits during the academic course period will not be eligible for further scholarship benefits.

Candidates applying for the VJNT Scholarship 2026-27 must upload all the required documents on the official portal. Look at the necessary documents mentioned below:
Caste certificate issued by the competent authority of the Govt. of Maharashtra. This certificate is considered proof of residence.
Income certificate / Income Declaration issued by the competent authority.
A Caste Validity Certificate is mandatory for Professional Degree courses and Professional Postgraduate courses. For Non-Professional courses, caste validity is not mandatory.
HSC or SSC marksheet or last examination marksheet for academic verification.
A gap certificate is mandatory if there is a gap in the applicant’s education.
Father/Guardians death certificate (if applicable)
Ration Card to verify the number of children in the family.
Leaving Certificate
Declaration certificate from parents/guardians stating the number of children availing of scholarship benefits.
Eligible students applying for the Maharashtra VJNT Scholarship 2026-27 can apply through the MahaDBT portal by following the steps mentioned below:
Go to the official website: mahadbt2.maharashtra.gov.in. Select the preferred language (Marathi or English).
For a first-time user, click on 'Register' and complete registration on MahaSarathi to get your Maha ID. Existing users can click on Login > Citizen Login, select the login method (Maha ID, Aadhaar, or without Maha ID), and enter the OTP sent to their registered mobile. All the registered information will be displayed.
In case applicants do not have an Aadhaar card, then they will have to fill in all the details manually.
After that, students must create a username and password for the Mahadbt scholarship 2026-27.
Enter the mobile number and password, and verify it. Next, go to the Mahadbt login and enter credentials. Fill in the captcha shown on the screen and submit.
After logging in, click the ‘Apply for Scheme’ tab on the dashboard. Use the search bar or Department / Scheme Type filters to locate the scheme you wish to apply for, i.e. VJNT Scholarship Scheme. Click the 'Description' icon to view eligibility criteria, or download GRs for the official Government Resolution.
Click on 'Apply' next to the scheme. The portal will automatically verify the eligibility. If eligible, select the 'Academic Year' from the dropdown and click 'Proceed to Apply'.
Complete all sections of the form. Fields marked * (asterisk) are mandatory. The Smart Auto-fill feature will pre-populate details from linked government databases — review them for accuracy and correct if needed.
Attach all required certificates and supporting files. Each file must be in PDF, JPG, or JPEG format and must not exceed 5 MB. Ensure scanned copies are clearly legible; blurry or cut-off documents will be rejected.
Click 'Save as Draft' to save progress and continue later. Then, 'Click Preview Application' to review before submitting. When ready, click 'Submit Application'. An 'Application Reference Number (ARN)' will be generated. Note it down for future reference.
