Delhi Public School (DPS), Srinagar Conducts Expressive Arts Therapy Workshop

Delhi Public School (DPS), Srinagar recently conducted an Expressive Arts Therapy Workshop in order to reach out to its students with an innovative approach to mental health. The sessions for Classes 10 and 11 students were organised by Vikramjeet Sinha, New Delhi-based stage actor and director and an art-based therapist. Connecting with oneself and expressing oneself with others is a distinct kind of useful intervention he uses.

These Expressive Arts Therapy Workshop sessions were divided into two sections, the first of which featured four separate performances by the resource person based on the four primary human emotions of sadness, madness, joy, and fear. He provided the students a ‘Eye-Opening Mask Art Therapy Exercise’ in the second portion of the session, which required them to create a mask since it is the ideal metaphor for studying a person's various facets. Students were able to identify their own benefits from attending the art therapy after the session.

Delhi Public School, Srinagar students have won accolades in national and international competitions in a range of fields. The students recently won the Under-17 Inter-School Basketball tournament organised by District Srinagar Youth Service and Sports department at Gindun Stadium Rajbagh. The students recently bagged first place in all categories (Boys) of Table Tennis in Under-19, Singles and Doubles Under-17, Single and Double Under-14 levels organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, Jammu and Kashmir.
