Delhi Public School (DPS) Srinagar, recently participated in the Under-17 Inter-School Basketball tournament organised by District Srinagar Youth Service and Sports at Gindun Stadium, Rajbagh. DPS Srinagar students emerged victorious by beating Tyndale Biscoe School in the championship game by a score of 49-10. Their team showcased an outstanding display of ability and teamwork. DPS Srinagar had earlier defeated Burn Hall School in the semifinals to go to the championship game.

The Delhi Public School (DPS) in Srinagar was founded in 2003 and is the valley’s first school to be affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The annual inter-school debating tournament was recently held at Delhi Public School (DPS), Srinagar. The competition was attended by 12 schools from the Srinagar district. Judges for the DPS annual debate tournament included radio personality Sardar Nasir Ali Khan and associate professor Huzaifa Pandit from the Department of Higher Education in Jammu and Kashmir. Students deliberated on the topic “Substance abuse should be decriminalised and declared an issue of psychological health”. The teams from Green Valley Educational Institute and DPS Srinagar tied for the rolling trophy after the finalist argument.

Shafaq Afshan, DPS Srinagar principal, commented on the victory at Under-17 Inter-School Basketball Tournament, “It is a great pleasure for us that our students continue to enrich our legacy in sporting excellence. Congratulations to the winners.” Chairman Vijay Dhar also extended his congratulations to the winning team and remarked, “A healthy mind exists in a healthy body and both are vital to a healthy society. At DPS Srinagar we are committed to the idea of creating a healthy and thriving society, and this win stands as a proof of our commitment.”
