The Chemistry question paper follows a structured format; it's split into four sections, based on how many marks each question is worth. The complete exam pattern is given in the table below:
Section | Question Numbers | Marks per Question | Total Marks |
Section A | 10 | 1 Mark each | 10 |
Section B | 8 | 2 Marks each | 16 |
Section C | 7 | 3 Marks each | 21 |
Section D | 7 | 4-5 Marks each | 33 |
Total | - | - | 80 Marks |
Focus on only the chapters that were taught before the Onam holidays, not the later ones.
Chemistry leans on equations. Keep a separate notebook for all the key chemical equations from first-term chapters and revise them every day.
You will see questions on electron dot structures, electrolysis setups, and lab preparations too, and they usually take good marks. So practice drawing neat, labelled diagrams. It helps to score full marks in descriptive-type questions
Try at least the last three years’ Onam exam papers, but in timed conditions. This helps you understand how questions come, improve your writing speed, and manage that exam stress.
Onam Chemistry is mostly theoretical; still, being quick with formulas, nomenclature, and structures can save you time.
