Functions and Powers of AHSEC

• To provide the curriculum, scheme of studies, AHSEC syllabi, and courses of instruction for the Higher Secondary level in colleges and Higher Secondary schools.
• To conduct Assam AHSEC examinations based on the prescribed courses.
• To charge and collect fees as per prescribed regulations.
• To publish examination AHSEC Assam Board examination results.
• To issue certificates to students who pass the examinations.
• To institute and award scholarships, prizes, and similar honours.
• To prescribe and select HS textbooks and supplementary reading materials.
• To set conditions for the recognition of Assam Higher Secondary Schools and Junior Colleges.
• To determine the required qualifications for teachers in recognized Higher Secondary Schools.
• To advise the Government on matters concerning the reorganization and development of Higher Secondary education.
• To delegate its powers to committees constituted under this Act.
• To manage and administer the Higher Secondary Education Council Fund.
• To perform all other acts required to fulfil the objectives of this Act.

AHSEC 2026 Application Form

The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council application process will be held through schools only. Students need to fill out their application forms and attach all the required documents along with the requisite application fees as directed by the school authority and submit the filled form at their respective schools.
