PM Internship Scheme Opportunities

The internship scheme aims to facilitate a mutually beneficial arrangement between interns and companies. Interns will gain practical experience and skills in a real-world setting, bridging the gap between academic learning and industry requirements. This, in turn, will enhance their employability.

The scheme is distinct from existing skill development, apprenticeship, and internship programs implemented by various states and the central government. It will operate independently of these other initiatives. Candidates can go through the PM Internship profile update guide to learn more about filling out the internship application.

PM Internship Scheme Salary and Stipend

Selected candidates for the PM Internship Scheme 2024 will receive the following benefits:

  • Monthly Stipend: Interns will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 5,000 for 12 months. The company will contribute Rs 500 per month from its CSR funds, while the government will transfer the remaining Rs. 4,500 directly to the intern's Aadhaar-linked bank account. Companies are also free to offer additional stipends from their funds.

  • One-Time Financial Assistance: A one-time grant of Rs. 6,000 will be disbursed to each intern by the government upon joining the internship, transferred directly to their Aadhaar-linked bank account.

PM Internship Scheme Insurence Coverage

The government will provide insurance coverage to each intern under the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana. The premium for these schemes will be borne by the government. Additionally, companies may opt to provide additional accidental insurance coverage to interns.

Companies Selected for the PM Internship Scheme

The PM Internship Scheme selects companies based on their recent Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) spending. This includes not only large corporations but also banks and financial institutions, subject to ministerial approval. These companies will offer internships that provide hands-on experience and contribute to meaningful projects.

The Prime Minister's Internship Scheme offers one-year internships in India's top 500 companies, including TATA, Reliance, and Apollo. These internships provide valuable hands-on experience and a monthly stipend. Eligible candidates aged 21-24 can apply for over 80,000 vacancies.

As announced in the Union Budget 2024-25, the PM Internship Scheme launched as a pilot project for the financial year 2024-25, aiming to provide 1.25 lakh internships across 24 sectors, including oil, gas, energy, travel, hospitality, automotive, banking, and financial services. Participating companies were selected based on their corporate social responsibility (CSR) spending over the past three years, ensuring interns are placed with socially and ethically responsible organizations.
