The PM Internship scheme is an initiative launched by the Government of India to provide youth with internship opportunities in the top 500 companies of India. Candidates will be able to get a 12-month internship and real-life experience across various sectors. Read the article to learn more about the PM Internship shortlisting and selection procedure.
Candidates can apply for internships in the top 500 companies. The PM Internship opportunities and salary details will be posted by the listed companies on the portal. Candidates can select their preferred internship field and the company they want to apply. The details of the offered internships include roles/functions, location, minimum educational qualification requirements, other special requirements, and facilities provided by the company. Check out the points below to understand the shortlisting of candidates by the PMIS portal.
Candidates must complete the PM Internship scheme registration on the portal first through eKYC or Aadhaar authentication.
They must provide their name, address, educational qualifications, and certifications (if any) along with the other relevant information as specified on the portal.
Educational qualifications and certifications proof have to be uploaded by the candidates in PDF format.
Students also have to submit the self-declaration form in the PM Internship candidates profile update affirming their eligibility as per the guidelines.
The portal will generate the candidate’s resume based on the details provided.
After the Aadhaar authentication, candidates will be provided with a browsing facility through internship opportunities based on their preferences.
Candidates can select up to five internships including location, sector, functional role, and qualifications.
Now, the portal will shortlist a pool of candidates for each internship opportunity.
Candidates need to keep track of the PM Internship application status to receive the latest information.
Based on the offers received for internships, applications will be shortlisted and sent to the company.
In the shortlisting process, the portal will prioritise those candidates whose application shows lower employability.
The shortlisting criteria in the PM Internship 2024 Scheme aim at promoting social inclusion and diversity in the internship programme.
The pool of shortlisted candidates’ applications will be forwarded to the companies for further selection.
Here’s how the companies select the candidates for the PM Internship scheme. Companies would be able to choose from the shortlisted group based on their respective selection criteria and process.
Selection of Candidates: The companies will send the internship offers to the candidates through the portal. Once the company sends the internship offer to the candidate, he/she can accept or reject the offer on the portal. Candidates may receive up to two internship offers in one cycle. Companies can use a model format on the portal to send the offer letter.
Internship document generation: Once the candidate accepts the offer, the PMIS portal will automatically generate an Internship document outlining the internship details including the responsibilities and roles of the company and the intern.
Joining the Internship: Upon joining the internship, the company will confirm the candidate joining on the portal. Once the company confirms, the candidate will get INR 6,000 as a grant for incidentals. The government will disburse the grant through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Internship: The company will pay INR 500 every month and will report the payment on the portal. The government will then release the INR 4,500 after confirmation. The amount would be transferred through DBT mode.
Internship Completion and Certification: Once the candidate completes the internship, the partner company will issue a Certificate of Completion.
