Scholarship for the orphan children of Kerala

This scholarship is provided by the government of Kerala under its Kerala Social Security Mission to orphan students. This scholarship aims to provide financial assistance to orphan students to ensure that their basic education is not hampered and bring them into the mainstream of society.

Name Of The Scholarship: Snehapoorvam Scholarship

Eligibility:

  • The student must be a resident of Kerala state.

  • Children who have lost either their father or mother or both.

  • The student must be studying in any of the government/government-aided schools or private schools of Kerala state.

  • Children must belong to BPL (Below Poverty Line) category.

  • For children belonging to APL (Above Poverty Line) category, the annual family income should not exceed Rs 20,000 in rural areas (Local body/Grama Panchayat) and Rs 22,375 in urban areas (Corporation/Municipality).

What It Covers:

  • Children who are below 5 years of age and studying in any class from Class 1 to Class 5 will get Rs 300 per month.

  • Children who are studying in any class from Class 6 to Class 10 will get Rs 500 per month.

  • Children who are studying in any class from Class 11 to Class 12 will get Rs 750 per month.

  • Students who are pursuing a degree or professional course will get Rs 1000 per month.

Lovely Professional University’s full fee waiver scheme for orphan students

India’s one of the top universities, Lovely Professional University (LPU) offers a full fee waiver scheme to orphan students. The main motive of this scheme is to facilitate access to higher education for students who have lost their parents and are unable to fund their higher education. Every year, a total of 20 seats are offered in selected programs under this scheme.

Name Of The Scheme: Financial Aid to Orphans

Eligibility:

  • Must be an Indian citizen.

  • Both the parents of the student are dead, or he/she is an abandoned child.

  • The student is not legally adopted by anyone.

  • The student must possess the death certificate of both parents.

  • A letter of recommendation from a government-approved orphanage, where the applicant is currently residing or an affidavit from an executive magistrate if the applicant is not living in a government-approved orphanage.

  • Courses and programs after Graduation are not included under this scheme.

  • Full Programme fee waiver

  • Examination fee waiver

Digjyoti Educational Trust’s PG scholarship for meritorious poor orphans

Digjyoti Educational Trust is a charitable and non-profit institution. Under its Dr. S.S. Prabhu Scholarship, it provides financial help in the form of scholarships to first-year Postgraduate (PG) orphans or differently-abled meritorious students.

Name Of The Scholarship: Dr. S.S. Prabhu Scholarship

Eligibility:

  • Must be an Indian citizen.

  • Must be an orphan or differently-abled.

  • Must have taken admission in a 1st-year Postgraduate (PG) program in any of the courses viz., Animal Genetics, Breeding, Life Science, Zoology, Biotechnology, Production & Dairy, and Livestock Production Technology (LPT).

  • Must not be receiving any kind of scholarship from any other source.

What It Covers: An amount of Rs 12,000 per month for 2 years.

  • Must be an Indian citizen.

  • Must have secured at least 90% marks in matriculation.

  • Must have taken admission in a 3 years degree course in Commerce or Science stream.

What It Covers: An amount of Rs 15,000 per month for 3 years.

Eligibility:

  • Must be an Indian citizen.

  • Must have secured at least 90% marks in matriculation/Class 10.

  • Must have taken admission in Class 11 in the academic year 2023-24.

  • Must be an orphan or differently-abled.

  • Must not be receiving any kind of scholarship from any other source.

What It Covers: An amount of Rs 10,000 per annum for 2 years.
