Vidyasiri Scholarship 2026-27 Highlights

The Karnataka state government started a scholarship scheme known as the Vidyasiri Scholarship. The Karnataka government has also started a service called ePass (electronic payment and scholarship application system) to make it easy to apply for the Vidyasiri Scholarship 2026-27 and receive the scholarship.

Vidyasiri Scholarship 2026-27 Eligibility

The Department of Backwards Classes Welfare of the Government of Karnataka has listed the eligibility requirements to apply for the Vidyasiri scholarship scheme 2026-27. The Vidyasiri eligibility criteria for 2026-27 are as follows:

Category - 1

• Should be a citizen of India as well as a permanent resident of Karnataka.

• His/her caste should be included in the list of Backwards Classes as stated by the Government of India or State Governments.

• Students enrolled in post-high school programmes at government, local, nonprofit, publicly funded, and privately recognised institutions that are affiliated with Karnataka's statutory universities.

Category - 2

• Backwards-class students enrolled in post-metric degrees who have not been accepted into any departmental or government-funded student housing will also be eligible for the Vidyasiri- Food and Accommodation Scholarship Scheme 2026-27.

Category - 3

• The Gross Annual Income of the student’s father/mother/guardian's family should be under the following limits:

1. Rs 2.50 lakh for students of Category I

2. Rs. 1.00 lakhs for students of Category-2A, 3A and 3B

• Students living in rural areas at least 5 km away from the college. Students residing in a city/town but attending colleges in a different city/town are also eligible.

• New and Renewal students must obtain the minimum marks mentioned below in the previous year's annual examination to be eligible.

Category - 4

• Students who attend the equivalent courses twice are not eligible. (eg, Admission to B.Com after B.A.MA (English) after MA (Kannada), LLB, after B.Ed.

• Students attending postgraduate medical courses but practising medicine during the course are not eligible for this facility.

• Students who passed Arts, Science, and Commerce courses, Bachelor's or Master's degrees and have changed courses more than once are not eligible.

• Only two male members of the same family are eligible for the scheme. However, this restriction does not apply to female candidates.

Category - 5

• Class attendance of each MAH student must be at least 75%.

Vidyasiri Scholarship 2026-27 Scholarship Allocation

Vidyasiri scholarship offered in 2026-27 will be distributed category-by-category in a merit-cum-means manner and in accordance with the following reservation:

• Vidyasiri Scholarship Scheme 2026-27 applications will only be accepted in an online format.

• Students have to submit online applications along with prescribed documents and submit a hard copy to the concerned colleges.

• College Principals and Inspection Officers will review the application and documents at the relevant level and give confirmation online.

• Next, the taluk backward classes welfare officer will check, verify and confirm online.

• Now, the district backward classes welfare officer will cross-check the details.

• Finally, payment of the sanctioned amount will be directly transferred to the bank account of the concerned student.

The following documents are required while applying for the Vidyasiri Scholarship 2026-27:

• Caste certificate

• Income certificate

• Aadhar card

• Previous class mark sheet

• Bank account along with the IFSC code

• A recent passport-size photograph

• Visit the official site of the Vidyasiri scholarship at bcwd.karnataka.gov.in or karepass.cgg.gov.in.

• Look for “Vidyasiri Scholarship 2026-27” on the Home page.

• Select the scheme and click Enter.

• Carefully fill in the correct personal information in the relevant fields.

• Enter the correct Aadhar number, details of annual income, academic information and other information.

• Now click on the ‘’Submit’’ button to apply for a scholarship.

• Finally, you would have successfully applied for the Vidyasiri Scholarship.

Steps to Check Vidyasiri Scholarship 2026-27 Application Status

• Go to the official site of the scholarship at karepass.cgg.gov.in.

• Look out for the ‘’Student Services’’ section on the home page.

• Click on the ’Vidyasiri application status’ and a new window will pop up.

• Now enter the date of birth, academic year, and application number.

• Cross-check all details and click on the "Get status" link.

• Your current application status will be displayed on the screen.
