Badminton: 7 Top Academies, How Much They Cost

Badminton has become one of the most-watched sports in Olympic events in India, especially after Saina Nehwal won a bronze medal in the 2021 Olympics and PV Sindhu won two in 2016 and 2021 Olympics. Both were trained at Hyderabad, considered the main hub for badminton academics. However, there are academics in Delhi and Bengaluru as well.

Those who want to train professionally can join any of the following badminton academies. All academies offer training from beginner to advanced level and it is conducted by highly experienced coaches. The academies also conduct various camps, coach certification coaching, tournaments and other events. One can join a badminton academy by registering themselves on their website or physically visiting the academy followed by other procedures. The cost of one month of coaching ranges from Rs 3,000 to Rs 15,000.

Top Badminton Academies in India

Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy | Hyderabad

Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy was established in 2008 by former Indian badminton player, Pullela Gopichand. The academy also has a branch in Delhi. This is the leading badminton academy in India. Coaching is conducted by national and international players. PV Sindhu, an Olympic champion, also trained in this academy. Apart from the badminton courts, the academy also has a gym, and a swimming pool. For admission, one has to physically visit the academy and get further training details from there or check the updates on the official website and advertisements posted in newspapers.

The Bhaskar Babu Li Ning Badminton Academy | Hyderabad

This academy was started by former Sports Authority of India badminton coach, Bhaskar Babu. Saina Nehwal, and P Kashyap were coached by him. The academy trains players from the foundational level to make them champions in international competitions. It has 12 courts, a swimming pool, gym, running track, canteen, and hostel for boarders.

Chetan Anand Badminton Academy | Hyderabad

Chetan Anand Badminton Academy (CABA) was established by Arjuna awardee Chetan Anand. CABA has two branches. The main campus at Ameenapur has 10 international courts and the other at Madhapur which has three courts. Aparts from courts, they also have a food court, gym, hostel facilities for the outstation players and many other features. CABA conducts many tournaments where players have to register to participate.

Padukone Sports Management | Bengaluru

Padukone Sports Management (PSM) was started by Prakash Padukone who secured world rank 01 in 1980. He was also a Padma Shri and Arjuna awardee. PMS is widely popular and has about 14 branches in Bengaluru and has 30 academies in India in different states. The academy provides scholarships to the players based on their merit and to those who are determined to make a career in the badminton field. They offer coaching from intermediate to advanced level, coach certificate coaching, online coaching and badminton summer camp. PSM also conducts various events and tournaments. Post registration, candidates will receive fee details from the PMS team.

MV Bisht Badminton Academy | New Delhi

MV Bisht Badminton Academy was set up by Madhumita Bisht. It has three branches spread across Delhi. Supporting the players who wanted to make a career in the badminton field is the primary concern of this academy. Admission is through a trial, and the fee varies according to the performance and the level of skill exhibited.

Global Academy for Badminton | Hyderabad

Jwala Gutta, another successful badminton champion from Hyderabad, started her own badminton academy in 2017. The academy has several branches across Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Bengaluru. Jwala Gutta once confirmed that they will also extend more badminton academies in the remote areas also, to make sure no one misses out.
