The Ministry of Minority Affairs(MOMA) scholarship is classified into four types:

• Pre-Matric Scholarship: For students of Classes 1–10.

Eligibility Criteria for MOMA Scholarship 2023-24

To avail the scholarship, it is mandatory to fulfill the eligibility criteria for minority scholarship, which is: Only students from the six minority communities are eligible to apply for the Ministry of Minority Affairs (MOMA) Scholarships: Muslim, Christian, Jain, Buddhist, Parsi (Zoroastrian), and Sikh. The criteria for the three separate scholarship programs are listed below:

MOMA Pre-Matric Scholarship:

The pre-matriculation scholarship will encourage parents from minority groups to take their school-age children to school, alleviate their financial burden on school education, and maintain their efforts to promote their children's school completion. The initiative will create the foundation for their educational success and level the playing field in the competitive employment sector. One of the goals of this scheme is to empower people through education, which has the potential to enhance the socioeconomic situations of minority communities.

Eligibility

• For students in classes 1st to 10th.

• Students must have scored at least 50% in their last qualifying exams.

• The annual family income must not exceed INR 1 lakh.

Mode of Applying

MOMA Post-Matric Scholarship

In June 2006, the Prime Minister launched his New 15-Point Plan for Minority Welfare. It calls for the implementation of a post-matriculation scholarship system for deserving students from minority communities.

The scheme's goal is to give scholarships to deserving students from economically disadvantaged parts of the minority community in order to provide them with better opportunities for higher education, improve their rate of attainment in higher education, and improve their employability.

Eligibility

• For students from Standard 11th to Ph.D. level.

• Those who participated in ITI/technical/vocational/polytechnic studies after the 11th standard are also eligible.

• Students must have received at least 50% in their last qualifying exams.

• The annual family income must not exceed INR 2 lakh.

Merit-cum-means MOMA Scholarship for Professional and Technical Courses

The Scheme's objective is to provide financial help to poor and meritorious students from minority communities so that they can pursue professional and technical courses.

The scholarship would be provided for studies in India at a government or private institution and will be chosen and announced in a transparent way by the State Government/Union Territory Administration concerned. It will offer technical and professional courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Eligibility

• Students must have participated in a technical/professional program.

• Students must have received at least 50% in their last qualifying exams.

• The annual income must not exceed INR 2.5 lakh.

Begum Hazrat Mahal National Scholarship

The scheme of "Begum Hazrat Mahal National Scholarship" for Meritorious Girl Students from Minority Communities was previously known as "Maulana Azad National Scholarship for Meritorious Girls from Minority Communities" and was launched by the then Prime Minister of India (late) Atal Bihari Vajpayee at the National Conference of Educational and Economic Development of Minorities held on 03.05.2003 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

The main purpose of this scheme recognizes, encourage, and help female students from National Minorities who are unable to complete their studies due to a lack of financial support.

Eligibility

• Scholarships will be given to minority girl students in 9th to 12th who have received at least 50% or an equal grade in aggregate in their prior class/qualifying exam.

• A student above the age of 18 must provide a self-certified community certificate. Others require a Community Certificate signed by the student's parent/guardian.

• The total annual income of the student's parent/guardian does not exceed Rs.2.00 lakh.

How to Apply for a MOMA Scholarship?

To apply for this scholarship, candidates must first visit the website of the National Scholarships Portal, where they can apply for this scholarship online. Here are the steps for applying for MOMA Scholarships.

• Select the New Registration option.

• You can go directly to the site given here.

• The instructions will appear on the screen.

MOMA Scholarship Documents Required

• Community certificate for the candidate, who has attained 18 years of age. It should be self-certified
