    About NSEJS 2026

    The Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT) conducts the National Standard Examination in Junior Science (NSEJS) as the first-stage examination for the International Junior Science Olympiad programme in India. The NSEJS exam is designed to assess students’ basic understanding of Physics, Chemistry and Biology at the secondary school level. The NSEJS 2026-27 exam will be conducted in offline mode at the registered NSE centres. Check all the NSEJS exam 2026-27 details below.

    More details about the IAPT NSEJS exam 2026-27:

    • The NSEJS 2026-27 examination is meant for students studying in Classes 8, 9, and 10.

    • Student enrolment for the exam will begin on August 21, 2026, and the last date to apply for the exam is September 14, 2026.

    • Students can enrol for the examination either through the centre in charge or individually online on the official website at  https://www.iapt.org.in. 

    • The examination will be conducted on November 22, 2026, from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm at the designated exam centres.

    • The NSEJS question paper will be available in English, Hindi, Gujarati, Bangla, Kannada, Tamil & Telugu or any other Indian language if at least 300 students opt for that language.

    • The NSEJS syllabus is equivalent to the Secondary school level up to and including Class 10 of the CBSE India Board syllabus. All science subjects, Biology, Physics and Chemistry, will be given equal emphasis.

    • The NSEJS exam result will be released in December 2026.

    NSEJS Important Dates

    NSEJS National Standard Examination in Junior Science (session 2026)

    Students must fulfil all the eligibility criteria for the NSEJS 2026-27 exam according to the IAPT official information:

    • The students must be eligible to hold an Indian passport.

    • The student must not have been born before January 1, 2012 and not after December 31, 2013.

    • The student must be studying in Class 8, 9, or 10 and have resided in India since November 30, 2024 or earlier.

    • Students must not have completed or be scheduled to complete the Class 10 board examination before November 30, 2026.

    • Students should not appear in any of the NSEA, NSEB, NSEC or NSEP 2026-27 exams to apply for the NSEJS exam.

    The NSEJS 2026-27 student enrolment process will start on August 21, 2026. Eligible students will be able to apply either through a registered NSE centre or individually online at www.iapt.org.in. The last date to fill the application form is September 14, 2026. Students must pay a sum of Rs. 300 to apply for the NSEJS exam.

    The NSEJS 2026-27 question paper will consist of 60 questions carries 216 marks in total. The paper will be divided into two parts: Part A-1 and Part A-2. In Part A-1, there are four options for each question, out of which one is correct. Students will get 3 marks for a correct answer, and 1 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer. In Part A-2, each question has more than one correct option. If a student marks all the correct options, 6 marks will be given for all the correct options and no incorrect options. There will be no negative marking in this section.

    The NSEJS admit card 2026-27 will be released one or two weeks before the exam date of November 22, 2026. To download their admit card, students need to enter their registration number and date of birth on the NSEJS official website at www.ipt.org.in. Students must carry their admit card along with the other required documents to the examination centre.

    The NSEJS 2026-27 result will be released in December 2026. Students will be able to check it on the IAPT official website. To check their NSEJS exam result 2026-27, students need their enrolment number, date of birth and other necessary credentials. Students are advised to regularly check the official IAPT website for result and selection-related information.
