The Central Board of Secondary Education has introduced On-Screen Marking (OSM) for Class 12 answer sheet evaluation 2026, aiming to enhance transparency, accuracy, and speed in the marking process. Class 10 answer books, however, will continue to be evaluated in physical mode this year. In a landmark decision, CBSE has confirmed that students will no longer be able to apply for post-result verification of marks for Class 12.
The CBSE Class 10 annual exam will be for 80 marks, and 20 marks will be given for the internal assessment. Out of the 80 marks, 68 marks will be for theory, and 12 marks will be for practical-based questions.
Meanwhile, CBSE released the Class 10 and Class 12 admit cards on its official website. The download link is now active. Regular students can collect their hall tickets from schools, while private candidates can access them online. Carrying the admit card to the exam centre is mandatory.
CBSE had announced a revision in the examination schedule for Class 10 and Class 12 board exams that were earlier planned for March 3, 2026. As per the updated notification, the Class 10 examination has been rescheduled to March 11, 2026, while the Class 12 examination will now be conducted on April 10, 2026. The Central Board of Secondary Education has introduced a major change in the evaluation process for the CBSE Board Exam 2026. Starting this year, Class 12 answer sheets will be assessed through On-Screen Marking (OSM), shifting to a fully digital evaluation system. However, Class 10 answer books will continue to be checked in physical mode for the 2026 examinations.
CBSE conducts Class 10 and Class 12 board exams annually in India and across 26 countries, covering nearly 46 lakh students. The Board stated that the new digital system aims to enhance transparency, accuracy, and efficiency in the marking process. OSM is expected to eliminate totalling errors, minimise manual intervention, speed up evaluation, and reduce transportation time and costs.
Teachers will be able to evaluate answer sheets from their respective schools, ensuring broader participation, including from affiliated institutions overseas. CBSE also indicated that the need for post-result verification of marks may significantly reduce due to improved accuracy.
Schools have been directed to ensure proper technical infrastructure, including updated systems, reliable internet connectivity, and uninterrupted power supply. Training sessions, dry runs, and technical support will be provided for smooth implementation.
The Central Board of Secondary Education has released the CBSE admit card 2026 for Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations on its official website. The download portal for the CBSE Board Exam 2026 admit card has been activated, and the links are now live for schools and students.
Students are advised to visit the official CBSE website and collect their admit cards at the earliest. Regular candidates can obtain their hall tickets through their respective schools, while private candidates can download them directly using the required login credentials.
