The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) released the class 10 syllabus for the academic year 2025-26 on March 28, 2025. The board published the CBSE syllabus for class 10th online through the official website, cbseacademic.nic.in. The board published the 10th CBSE syllabus in a PDF format on March 28, 2025. Students can use it to prepare for the examination. The board published the CBSE class 10th syllabus for the current academic year. Below, we have provided the subject-wise marking scheme for students' reference.
The CBSE board follows the NCERT textbook. The CBSE class 10th English language and literature syllabus includes two books, “First Flight” and “Footprints Without Feet”. The exam will be held for 100 marks out of which the theory paper will carry 80 marks and the internal assessment will carry 20 marks. Check out the exam pattern below.

The Communicative English will carry 100 marks in total. The theory paper will be divided into four sections and carry a total weightage of 80 marks. The internal assessment will consist of listening and speaking skills and is assigned 20 marks in total.

Visit the official website, cbseacademic.nic.in.
Go to “Curriculum” and click on the “Curriculum 2025-26” tab.
On the next page, click on the “Secondary Curriculum (IX-X)” tab.
After that, click on the respective subject link to download the CBSE Class 10th Syllabus PDF 2025-26.
For the academic year 2025-26, the board has released the CBSE board exam 2026 twice a year scheme for class 10 tudents. There will be no change in the subject scheme and the syllabus will remain the same as per the current year. Under this scheme, all the Class 10 CBSE-affiliated schools will participate. The first exam is scheduled to be held in February-March 2026 and the second exam will be conducted in May 2026.
To pass the CBSE 10th examination, students will have to pass in all 5 main subjects. The twice-a-year exam scheme aims to reduce stress among students and help them perform well in a single opportunity. The subjects will be grouped into two categories: regional and foreign language groups, except for Science, Maths, Social Science, Hindi and English subjects. 1. KCET (Karnataka Common Entrance Test): You must appear for the KCET exam, which is required for admission to undergraduate professional courses like engineering, medical, and other streams. Your exam score and rank will determine your eligibility for counseling.

Yes, you can apply for 12th grade as a private candidate .You will need to follow the registration process and fulfill the eligibility criteria set by CBSE for private candidates.If you haven't given the 11th grade exam ,you would be able to appear for the 12th exam directly without having passed 11th grade. you will need to give certain tests in the school you are getting addmission to prove your eligibilty.

According to cbse norms candidates who have completed class 10th, class 11th, have a gap year or have failed class 12th can appear for admission in 12th class.for admission in cbse board you need to clear your 11th class first and you must have studied from CBSE board or any other recognized and equivalent board/school.
You are not eligible for cbse board but you can still do 12th from nios which allow candidates to take admission in 12th class as a private student without completing 11th.
