Schools are responsible for compiling the subject change requests of their students and submitting the same in the proper format on the school’s letterhead to the respective CBSE regional office along with the essential documents. Students can submit their requests to schools by July 15 of the respective academic year and further process has to be completed by July 21 by schools.
Upon receipt of a subject change request, the school conducts a thorough analysis to ascertain its viability. The evaluation criteria include:
Determining the candidate’s genuineness of the reason cited for the change of subject(s).
Assessing candidate’s academic performance in Class 9th or Class 11th. They have to identify if the candidate is facing difficulties in coping with the current subject(s).
Schools also have to verify the availability of the requested subject and ensure the presence of a qualified teacher for the requested subject.
The CBSE regional office will communicate the deficiencies in the submitted requests to the respective schools by August 20 of the respective academic year.
This allows timely rectification and resubmission of documents or information.
Schools have to ensure that the deficiencies are resolved by August 27 of the respective academic year.
The board will also release the CBSE date sheet 2026 for students. Candidates can check out the exam dates and prepare for the CBSE board as per the sheet.
