The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) issues a digital migration certificate for students who have cleared classes 10th and 12th from the CBSE board. Students can apply and download the digital CBSE migration certificate online through the DigiLocker app. Earlier, the board used to provide the hard copy and soft copy of the CBSE migration certificate. However, from the 2025 examination onwards, the board will issue digital copies only.

During the transition of school, if a student requires the hard copy of the CBSE migration certificate, then the student can make a special request for it through the Duplicate Academic Document System portal at cbseit.in/cbse/web/dads/home.aspx. The class 10th and 12th students can apply for the digital CBSE migration certificate online through the DigiLocker app. Check out the steps given below.
Visit the official website of DigiLocker or download the app from the Play Store.
Use the verified mobile number registered with the CBSE board to log in.
Enter the OTP received at your mobile number to log in to the DigiLocker account.
After that, the system will ask the candidates for a security pin. Use the last 6 digits of the CBSE roll number as mentioned in the admit card for the PIN.
Now, the students can check and download their CBSE migration certificate online from the list of documents available on the dashboard itself.

The CBSE board used to provide both a hard copy and a soft copy of the migration certificate. However, after the decision of the University Grants Commission to accept the digital copies of CBSE migration certificates, the Central Board of Secondary Education has decided to discontinue the hard copy of it from the academic year 2025 onwards. Even the fee charged by the board for issuing a migration certificate, along with the examination fee in the LOC, will not be charged by the board.

As of May 24, 2024, the Examination Committee meeting and the Government Body meeting of the CBSE scheduled for June 24, 2024, have decided to discontinue the hard copy of the CBSE migration certificate from the academic year 2025 onwards. However, during the transition period, if a school asks for the hard copy of the CBSE migration certificate, then students are allowed to request the CBSE board through the Duplicate Academic Document System (DADS) portal at cbseit.in/cbse/web/dads/home.aspx.
Students can refer to the steps below to apply for a hard copy of the CBSE migration certificate.

Click on the “Main Website”.
On the home page, go to the “Duplicate Academic Document System” and “Continue”.
Go to “Printed Documents”.
Enter the required details, such as candidates’ class, name, roll number, passing year, mobile number, email ID, etc..
Click on the “Search” button.

On the next page, the form will open. Fill out the required information under the “Address for Dispatch”, such as country, complete address, district, state name, pin code, and mobile number.
Students get the option of choosing between “Post or Hand”. By post, the migration certificate will be sent to the candidates’ given address, whereas by hand, students will have to visit the CBSE headquarters in person to collect their CBSE migration certificate.
Select document type, i.e., “CBSE Migration Certificate”.
Upload the required documents, such as the Aadhaar card and submit.
After that, students must pay the certificate fee, and the CBSE migration certificate will be sent to the given address.
Make sure to print out the transaction status for future reference.
