Sol. Third multiple of 1 = 3

Twice the third multiple = 2 X 3 = 6

Two more than twice the third multiple = 2 + 6 = 8.


Ex. 2: Each student in a class of 60 is given a packet of cookies. How many packets in total were distributed?

Sol. Total no. of students = 60

No. of packets given to each student = 1

Therefore, the total number of packets of cookies distributed is 1 x 60, or 60.


Ex. 3: When 1 is multiplied by 5 times, what number is produced?

Sol. The number will be 5, as 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 1 x 5 = 5.


Ex. 4: What will the number be when 1 is added 8 times?

Sol. when we add 1 eighth times, the number will be 1 x 8 = 8.


Ex. 5: How many chairs will be required at a meeting if one chair is provided to each of the 35 guests?

Sol. Total no. of guests at the meeting = 35

No. of chairs of each member = 1

So, the total no. of chairs required = 35 x 1 = 35.
