What is the GATE exam?

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a highly respected exam in India that is used for assessing a candidate's understanding and knowledge of various undergraduate engineering and science disciplines. This exam is used for determining eligibility for admission to master's programs and for employment opportunities in public sector undertakings (PSUs). GATE is jointly conducted by the Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institutes of Technologies across the country, and is administered by the National Coordination Board - GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India. A candidate's performance on the exam is reflected in their GATE score, which is a relative measure of their abilities and understanding in the relevant field.

Students Who Take GATE Exams:

One of the most difficult tests used to evaluate the performance of engineering graduates is GATE. The number of candidates taking the exam increases each year as lakhs more applicants attempt it. There are several reasons why people take the GATE exams. The GATE tests are chosen by candidates who wish to advance their knowledge in the specific domains of engineering or other related fields and acquire admission to the appropriate higher educational institutions for MS or M. Tech Courses. Candidates are also chosen by PSUs based on their GATE results. We go into great detail on how many students take the GATE exam in this article.

Background wave

Every year, on average, approximately ten lakh people show up for the tests. Nearly 8.5 lakh people registered to take the GATE Exams in 2021. This is an estimation of all candidates who will take the board exams for the particular academic year. Engineering and science candidates can be found in huge numbers in some branches, but fewer candidates can be found in other branches. Mechanical engineering, electronics and communication engineering, computer science and information technology, electrical engineering, and civil engineering are the most common subfields.
