    Introduction

    All the numbers which come after 1,000,000 are termed as numbers greater than a million. The range of the numbers greater than a million can be written as (1000000 to ∞). All the numbers after 1 million in an international place value table of millions, billions, and trillions are greater than 1 million.

    Define a million.

    One million is at the thousand-thousands place in a place value chart. Mathematically, a million is a seven digits number written as 1000,000. In India, a million is known as 10 lakhs. A million comes after 999,999 and before 1000,001. We get a million by adding and subtracting 1 from these numbers.

    \begin{array}{l}

    999,999+1=1000,000 \\

    1000,001-1=1000,000

    \end{array}

    It can also be expressed as 1 × 106 exponentially i.e.,

    1000,000=1 \times 10^6

    Symbolically, a million is shown as ‘m’. In binary form, a million is written as 111101000010010000002. The factorisation of million is 26 × 56.

    i.e., 1000,000 = 26 × 56

    International Place Value Table

    The place value of each digit of a number can be found using the place value table. To read the number correctly, we need a place value table. So, given below is a place value chart:

    MILLIONs

    THOUSANDs

    ONEs

    Hundred Million

    Ten Million

    Million

    Hundred Thousand

    Ten Thousand

    In the same way, we can place further place values of billions and trillions.

    Conversion from millions to billions

    To convert a number from million to billion, we need to divide the number by 1000.

    1 billion = 1000 million.

    For example- Convert 5 million to billion:

    Given number = 5 million.

    Now, divide this by 1000 to get a number converted into billion, i.e.,

    5 m / 1000 = 0.005 billion.

    5 \text {m} / 1000=0.005 \text { billion }

    Note:

    Similarly, we can multiply a number by a thousand to convert a number from billion to a million.

    Conversion from millions to trillions

    To convert a number from millions to trillions, we just need to divide the number by 1000,000.

    1 trillion = 1000,000 million.

    For example- Convert 7 million to trillion:

    Given number = 7 million.

    Now, divide this number by 1000,000 to get a number in a trillion, i.e.,

    7 trillion / 1000,000 = 0.000007 trillion.

    7 \text { trillion } / 1000,000=0.000007 \text { trillion }

    Note:

    Similarly, we can multiply the number by 1000,000 to convert it into trillions.

    Conclusion

    There are six zeros in a million. Million is a product of 1000 × 1000. Through this article, we will get in-depth knowledge of the million, billion and trillion place value systems. Let me concise this in article in short-

    1000 × 1 = 1000 [THOUSAND]

    1000 × 1000 = 1000,000 [MILLION]

    1000 × 1000,000 = 1000,000,000 [BILLION]

    1000 × 1000,000,000 = 1000,000,000,000 [TRILLION]
