India's independence was on 15 August 1947 and became a republic in 1950. The design of the rupee in India today is influenced by the 1 rupee coin. The symbol chosen for the note was taken from the four-faced lion of Sarnath. Accordingly, the notes of the George V series have been closed in Korea. The first banknotes of independent India were 1 rupee notes issued by the Reserve Bank of India. On November 30, 1917, during British rule, the 1 rupee note appeared.
Britain dominated World War I, and at that time, 1 rupee coins were in fashion as silver coins. However, as conditions deteriorated due to the war, it became difficult to mint silver coins. Because of this, for the first time, a one-rupee note with a picture of George V appeared in front of people. This note was printed in England and was worth much less than other banknotes of currency.
In 1969, RBI issued a series of designs commemorating the 100th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi's birth on Rs 5 and Rs 10 notes. You might be surprised to learn that a picture of a moving ship has been on a 10 rupee note for over 40 years. In 1959, special banknotes of 10 rupees and 100 rupees were issued for pilgrimages to holy places in India, allowing pilgrims to exchange them for Saudi Arabia's local currency. In 1917-1918, the Nizam of Hyderabad was granted the privilege of printing and issuing their currency.
