    Introduction

    Bird sanctuaries are special places for birds, there are 72 Bird Sanctuaries situated in India. The objective of bird sanctuaries is to protect the birds. They are owned by the government because a little extra care is required to protect them. India is said to be the home to many bird sanctuaries which is why almost every state of India has at least one bird sanctuary. All the tasks related to the sanctuaries are done by the government.

    The natural habitat of each bird is different. Thus, finding a similar bird in every part of India is difficult. Hence, to protect these rare species, Bird Sanctuaries are established. Bird sanctuaries contain natural facilities for the care and conservation of various species along with their natural habitat. Also, it encourages the survival and rehabilitation of these species.

    According to BNHS, 72 Bird Sanctuaries are situated in India. Also, there exist about 1210 bird species in India.

    The Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary is said to be the largest in Asia. This sanctuary is also known as Keoladeo National Park. It covers an area of around 1.3 km divided into 0.14 square kilometres of core area and the rest is buffer.

    Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary has many species of birds like shanks, eagles, hawks, geese, ducks, cranes, pelicans, pipits, larks, buntings, wheatears, flycatchers, warblers, stints and wagtails.

    Conclusion

    India has way too many bird sanctuaries and bird species which makes it a home for many habitats. These sanctuaries are a big attraction spot for tourists to witness nature’s beauty and spend an unforgettable and memorable time.
