NIOS Syllabus 2019 - National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) suggests students of class 10 and 12 to prepare as per NIOS syllabus. Students can download the syllabus of NIOS for all subjects of class 10 and 12 in this article. NIOS 2019 syllabus comprises topics for all the subjects covered in the exam for class 10th and 12th. Students who will be appearing for NIOS 2019 exam must download syllabus for their subjects to cover all the topics. NIOS 2019 10th syllabus is divided into group A and Group B. Subjects in group A consists subjects in languages while group B has subjects ranging from mathematics to commerce and humanities. Candidates have to select subjects from both the group. Subjects of class 12 are divided in five groups A,B,C,D and E. Candidates have to choose subjects among all the five groups. Students must practice previous years question papers and mock test papers to secure good marks in their exams.

NIOS 2019 Class 10 and 12 Subjects

NIOS gives students the choice to select subjects from a variety of subjects. Students of class 10 can select five subjects, having option of selecting one or two subjects from languages from Group A and the remaining subjects from Group B. Students can take two additional subjects from either of the two groups. Students of class 12 can select five subjects, one or two from languages from Group A and the remaining subjects from Group B, C, D, E and F. Students of class 12, however, have certain restrictions from choosing subjects like only one subject each from C, D, E and F can be taken. Subjects of NIOS Admission 2019 Class 10

NIOS syllabus of class 10 is divided into two groups, Group A and Group B. Subjects in Group A are languages while subjects in Group B are subjects of Science, Humanities and others ranging from Commerce to Sanskrit. Students have to select at least one subject from Group A while a maximum of two subjects can be selected from Group A. Students can select maximum 4 subjects from Group B.

Subjects of NIOS Admission 2019 Class 12

NIOS Subjects for class 12 is divided into six groups namely Group A, B,C,D,E and F. Group A contains subjects of languages while groups B,C,D,E and F has subjects from science to humanities among others. Students have to select of 5 subjects from all the groups while one language from Group A has to be compulsorily taken. Students have to compulsory select one subject from group C,D,E and F.

Selection of Additional Subjects for Class 10 and 12

NIOS offers students of class 10 and 12 additional subjects in their course of study other than the mandatory 5 subjects at an additional cost of Rs. 600 per subject. Students of NIOS class 10 and 12 can take maximum of two additional subjects in their course of study.

NIOS Syllabus 2019 for Class 12

The NIOS prescribes its students, class 12 NIOS syllabus for all the subjects. Students have to prepare for their exams as per the syllabus provided by NIOS. Syllabus for some of the main subjects for NIOS class 12 is given below in this table:

Exam Pattern of NIOS Class 10 and 12 Examination

Students appearing in NIOS class 10 and 12 examination 2019 have to clearly understand the scheme and pattern of examination. Students from class 10 have to appear in minimum one and maximum of two subjects from Group A language subjects. The rest of 3 or 4 subjects have to be selected from Group B. Subjects from Group B for which there is a provision of practical exams, the theory exam will be held for 85 marks and practical exam will carry 15 marks.

Students of class 12 can also select minimum one and maximum of two subjects from Group A language subjects. Rest of the subjects have to be selected from Group B,C,D,E and F. Theory exams of class 12 will comprise of 80 marks while practical exams will carry 20 marks. Duration for both the exam of NIOS class 10 and 12 is 3 hours and is held from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM in the evening hours. Detailed subject wise pattern of NIOS class 10 and 12 exam  is listed below



NIOS Certification Criteria for Obtaining Pass Certificate

Students have to get minimum of 33% marks including theory and practical exam (wherever applicable). Marks of internal assessment are listed separately in mark sheet. 

Students have to pass in 5 subjects in order to get the pass certificate. Students can however select maximum of two subjects from language.

Students have to get minimum of 33% marks in subjects as well as practical exams individually.

Students have to pass in 5 subjects in order to get the pass certificate. Students can however select maximum of two subjects from language.

NIOS Credit Accumulation Facility to Students

NIOS provides students of class 10th and 12 the facility of credit accumulation for all the subjects of theory and practical. Any Student appearing in NIOS class 10 or 12 exam with 5 subject, if somehow did not clear all subjects but manages to pass in any number of subjects, then the marks of passed subjects will be retained by NIOS for a period of five years. Candidate can clear the NIOS 10 and 12 exam in total of five years.

Students of NIOS class 10 and 12 who pass the practical exam but did not clear the theory exam also has the facility of credit accumulation by NIOS.

NIOS Date Sheet

The NIOS Block I and Block II exam for class 10 and 12 will be conducted in April/may 2019 and October/November 2019 respectively.  Time table for written as well as practical exams will be released by NIOS in February 2019 for Block I exams while schedule for Block II exams will be announced in August 2019 tentatively. The exams for class 10 and 12 are of 3 hours duration held during 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm in the afternoon session. Practical exams of subjects having practical orientation for class 10 and 12 will be held separately before the theory exams. Schedule for all the practical exams of NIOS class 10 and 12 mentioning time and date is released at least one month prior to the exams. NIOS Question Papers

NIOS provides sample question papers for class 10 and 12 for all the subjects. Students must practice sample question papers as well as previous years papers to help them score good marks. NIOS Sample question papers for class 10 and 12 provide an idea of type of question being asked by NIOS, pattern of questions and marking scheme. Solving the questions also familiarize students about the difficulty level and the question pattern of the exam.
