The Central Board of Secondary Education pre-board 12th exams are conducted by individual schools. So, the CBSE 12th pre-board exam dates will vary from school to school. Generally, the CBSE Class 12 pre-board exams will be held in December 2025 and January 2026. The pre-board CBSE Class 12 date sheet is expected to be released in November 2025. The final CBSE Board exam dates for Class 12 are expected to be announced in November 2025. The main CBSE 12th board exams are tentatively scheduled to commence around February 17, 2026.

CBSE 12th pre-board exams will be conducted exactly like the board exams. The way the exam is held, the exam pattern, the CBSE syllabus and even the timing will all be the same as the actual exam. CBSE 12th pre‐board exams are meant to prepare students for the real exam environment. The CBSE 12th pre-board paper will also be held in the morning, from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm
The CBSE pre-board practical exam for regular schools (non winter-bound), practicals are expected in December 2025. In many subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Home Science, Geography, Computer Science, etc., the practical is a part of the exam. The total marks for such subjects are split 70 or 80 for the written theory paper and 30 or 20 for the CBSE 12th pre-board practical or internal assessments. To pass these subjects, CBSE requires students to score at least 33% in theory, 33% in practical (where applicable), and 33% overall in that subject.
