The marks secured in the CBSE pre-board examinations do not directly contribute to the final results. CBSE Pre-boards are simply diagnostic tools that show you where you stand in your preparation. CBSE pre-board examinations primarily serve as an assessment tool to check the level of student preparedness. While not mandatory, they are widely conducted across schools for student evaluation. The primary objective of pre-boards is to assist students in their preparation for the CBSE Board examination 2026.

CBSE Board exams are around the corner, so your focus should be on improving your preparation. Now is the time to delve into CBSE sample questions and past year question papers. These resources provide valuable insights into the CBSE Class 10 exam pattern and 12th exam pattern and help you identify areas where you need further improvement.

Are students allowed to sit in exams if they fail in Pre-Board?

Yes, students are allowed to sit for the CBSE Board Exams even if they fail in their Pre-Board exams.

  • Pre-Board exams are primarily for practice and assessment: They help students identify their strengths and weaknesses, and get used to the exam format

  • They do not determine CBSE Board exam eligibility: Your performance in the actual CBSE 10th and CBSE 12th exams is the sole determinant of your final result.

  • Focus on your CBSE Board exam preparation: Use the CBSE pre-board results as a learning opportunity to improve your performance in the actual exams

The minor setbacks in CBSE's pre-board performance should not be a cause for undue concern. Think of them as a wake-up call. Do not get discouraged by low scores; they are a reality check. They prepare you for the challenges you might face and motivate you to work harder. It is advisable to conduct a self-evaluation of answer sheets and actively seek guidance from teachers to identify areas for improvement and enhance CBSE Board exam performance.

Benefits of CBSE Pre-Board Exams

While the marks themselves do not directly impact your CBSE board results, pre-boards provide invaluable insights and preparation for the actual exams.

  • Find weak areas: CBSE Pre-boards act as a crucial mock exam. They help you pinpoint subjects or topics where you need to focus your studies and improve.

  • Prepare yourself for the final CBSE exam: Good performance in CBSE pre-boards can boost your confidence and motivation for the actual board exams.

  • Practice exam conditions: CBSE Pre-boards provides the actual board exam environment, helping you get used to the time constraints, exam hall atmosphere, and the pressure of the situation.

  • Helps in time management: They help you practice effective time management strategies for the actual board exams. This time management strategy helps you to score better in the CBSE Class 10 result and the CBSE Class 12 result.

Pre-board exam marks are not added to board exam results

CBSE Pre-board exam marks are not counted in the final CBSE Board exam results. However, CBSE pre-board scores can provide valuable insights into your performance in the actual board exams.

It's important to note that CBSE pre-board exams are designed and administered by individual schools or groups of schools. Consequently, the difficulty level of these exams may vary and may sometimes exceed the difficulty of the actual Board exam questions.

Conversely, CBSE Board exam questions are formulated by the government and are designed to be accessible to students from diverse educational backgrounds across the nation.

Despite these differences, CBSE pre-board scores can serve as a valuable benchmark for assessing your current level of preparation. By analysing their CBSE pre-board performance, students can gain valuable insights, engage in productive discussions with their teachers, and formulate a comprehensive revision plan to address identified areas of weakness.

Hello,

No, it’s not true that GSEB (Gujarat Board) students get first preference in college admissions.

Your daughter can continue with CBSE, as all recognized boards CBSE, ICSE, and State Boards (like GSEB) which are equally accepted for college admissions across India.

However, state quota seats in Gujarat colleges (like medical or engineering) may give slight preference to GSEB students for state-level counselling, not for all courses.

So, keep her in CBSE unless she plans to apply only under Gujarat state quota. For national-level exams like JEE or NEET, CBSE is equally valid and widely preferred.

Hope it helps.

Hello,

Since you have passed 10th and 12th from Delhi and your residency is Delhi, but your domicile is UP, here’s how NEET counselling works:

1. Counselling Eligibility: For UP NEET counselling, your UP domicile makes you eligible, regardless of where your schooling was. You can participate in UP state counselling according to your NEET rank.

2. Delhi Counselling: For Delhi state quota, usually 10th/12th + residency matters. Since your school and residency are in Delhi, you might also be eligible for Delhi state quota, but it depends on specific state rules.

So, having a Delhi Aadhaar will not automatically reject you in UP counselling as long as you have a UP domicile certificate.

Hope you understand.
