200 Words Essay On Time Is Money

It is popularly said “Time is money”. Let us compare the two.

Time Vs Money

Once spent, time is irreversible, but money may be earned back. The rich and the poor still have the same amount of time in their day, but the rich have access to money that the poor do not. Money may be kept on hand for a while, but time cannot be stored. Time is perpetually finite and unabated, while money may be raised by working harder. Time is not constant and keeps moving forward, although money may stay the same for a while. While money's worth may diminish with time, that of time does not.

Scoring Less, Not Valuing Time

Last year I had my board exams. I could have performed better than how I did. I haven't taken it seriously ever since the start of Class 12. I always thought I would have plenty of time to study just before the exams. My study hours were irregular. I saw my marks getting low with each exam and my friends scoring more and more. I realised how foolish I was to waste time when I should have utilised it best. But it was too late for me by that time. Exams were already over, my marks were low, and I kept regretting why I wasted so much time. That day I realised that time is money. It is the most valuable thing to a person; if wasted, it does not return.

We only have a finite amount of time throughout our lifetime, so it is valuable. Time does not wait for anyone, which makes it adaptable and vicious. Use your time wisely at all times.

Time Management Tips

Some of the ways by which we can save time are:-

  • Planning our day: Finding out how long each task takes, then planning our time accordingly. This will enable us to make room for important contacts such as calls, meetings, and breaks. By planning our day, we can avoid wasting time pondering what to do next and jump right from one duty to the next.

  • Using checklists: Making a list of what we need to do during the workday. This can help us plan our time more effectively by better understanding how much time we spend on each task. Thus as we work to finish our tasks, this will also boost our productivity.

  • Removing distractions: We can save time by eliminating potential distractions and improving our ability to concentrate on the current work. This may involve turning off the notifications from the phone and closing any windows on our PC which we are not using. Keeping our area distraction-free helps us become more productive and save more time.

  • Efficiently using our free time: We should use our free time while working on a major activity to complete the minor projects below on the priority list. This can involve checking desks for clutter or sending out non-urgent emails. By doing this, we can get rid of these tasks and avoid putting them off for later.

  • Grouping similar tasks: We can increase efficiency by grouping related jobs together. Going through all of our emails at once or running errands that call for the same location away from your desk are examples of jobs that fall under this category. Grouping tasks promotes more effortless concentration by giving us fewer things to focus on at once.

  • Pay attention to one group of tasks at a time: Make sure a specific group of duties is completed correctly by working on it from beginning to end. By ensuring we do not have to come back to that work later, it can promote timeliness. Additionally, it can assist us in minimising the problems that may result from constant task switching.

My Experience

Last month I had my board exams. The test centre was close to me and I took it lightly that I needed to be completely ready and go to my centre on time with all the necessary documents. On the day of the Maths exam, I woke up late that day and saw that I still had time to reach the centre. There was a big crowd of parents and students outside the test centre.

As a result, I got even more later. Finally, I entered the examination hall 30 mins late. Unfortunately, I could not complete the question paper and had to leave almost 20 marks despite having good preparation. That day I understood the value of time. I understood that time and tide wait for none, and we should take time more seriously than we do. We cannot even waste a single second, and I learnt it the hard way that day.
