The multiplication table is one of the primary concepts students need to grasp to have a good grip on mathematics and its problems. Sometimes the multiplication table is attributed to the Greek mathematician named Pythagoras, and that's why it's known as the table of Pythagoras.
In modern times, a mathematician named John Leslie wrote a book, The Philosophy of Arithmetic, in which he published multiplication tables up to 99*99. Leslie also recommended that the students learn this multiplication table up to 50*50. But the oldest multiplication was used by the Babylonians around 4000 years ago.
During the Chinese warring states period, it used tables as the base of 10 around 350 BC (before christ).
