    The National Institute of Open School (NIOS) releases the NIOS Class 12 eligibility criteria 2026 through the official website, nios.ac.in. The eligibility criteria for NIOS Class 12 include certain conditions that students must fulfil to apply for NIOS Class 12 admission in 2026.     NIOS Class 12 Eligibility Criteria for Admission 2026

    Students applying for the NIOS board Class 12 must check their NIOS 12th eligibility 2026. Below, we have provided the general NIOS eligibility criteria for admission to Class 12.

    • Students must be at least 15 years old as of January 31, 2026.

    • They must have passed Class 10 from a recognised board.

    • Ex-students of NIOS who have cleared their valid period of 5 years of admission but could not complete their senior secondary course are also eligible to apply for re-admission to NIOS.

    • Students who have passed in at least one subject but did not clear the senior secondary can apply for the respective course of NIOS 2026.

    • Students who meet the requirements can register for the NIOS 12th registration 2026. They must fill out the registration form and submit it along with the required documents. Students must make sure all the documents submitted are correct.

    NIOS Eligibility for Transfer of Credit (TOC) 2026

    The NIOS board offers TOC facilities to ex-senior secondary students who have passed in at least one subject but did not qualify for the course. Below, we have provided the conditions under which the facility of TOC is permissible:

    • Transfer of Credit (TOC) is allowed for a maximum of two subjects from the parent board. However, the students must pass these subjects with at least 33% marks in the last five years.

    • For senior secondary students, TOC will be allowed to students who have passed both the theory and practical examinations separately.

    • Students will have to pay the required Transfer of Credit (TOC) fees subject-wise.

    • Students are required to provide the required details of TOC subjects, marks, roll number etc in the admission form.

    • While applying for TOC, students must send their failed marksheet within 10 days of online admission to the concerned Regional Centre of NIOS along with a copy of the acknowledgement receipt or online admission form. In case of late submission, students will have to pay a late fee of Rs 500 per subject.

    Documents Required for NIOS Class 12 Eligibility Criteria 2026

    Students must check that the documents required to apply for the NIOS Class 12 registration process are ready in the JPG and JPEG formats. They must keep in mind that application forms without documents will be rejected by the board, and the fees will not be refunded.

    • Valid identity proof

    • Recent passport-size colour photograph

    • Signature in black ink

    • Address proof

    • Valid proof of date of birth

    • A valid proof of residence

    • Social category/Caste certificate (in case of SC/ST/OBC Candidates)

    • Ex-serviceman certificate (if he/she is an ex-serviceman)

    • Passport/Statement of Operational Bank Account/Appointment Letter from the Employer on Printed Letterhead

    • Disability certificate

    • Class 10th mark sheet

    • Fail mark sheet of the previous board, failing which Transfer of Credit (TOC) marks will not be updated in NIOS result. If the TOC Board marked with (*Other) is selected, then the result should be available on the Concerned Board Website, or the Learner has to submit a result verification letter from the Concerned Board as per NIOS norms.
