Introduction of Gate Exam

The GATE exam is conducted once a year during the first or second week of February. Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is an All-India test authorised and managed in eight regions across the nation. The exam will carry 65 questions, out of which General Aptitude will be over 15 marks with 10 questions, and the rest will be subject-based and will carry 85 marks. Subjects in which Engineering Mathematics is compulsory will carry 12-15 marks of the same. All the questions will be objective type and you have to choose the correct answer from the given alternatives. For each correct answer, the candidate will get complete marks. However, for each incorrect answer, one-third mark would be deducted.’

Eligibility Criteria

It is a prestigious nationalised entrance exam for entering into Engineering and is conducted for admission in the post-graduate education programs or PSUs' recruitment in various branches of engineering.

A candidate who is currently studying in the 3rd or higher years of any undergraduate degree program.

A candidate who has already completed any government-approved degree program in Engineering / Technology / Architecture / Science / Commerce / Arts is eligible for appearing in the GATE
