It is a mountain range that runs through the states of Kerala, Karnataka, Gujrat, Goa, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra. The Western Ghats are almost 1600 km long. The highest point in the Western Ghats is the Cardamom Hills. The passes through the Western Ghats are Palakkad Gorge, Kasara Ghat and Naneghat.
"Western Ghats" are "mountain ranges" located in India. This is a series of low mountains stretching from Gujrat parallel to the "west coast" for 1600 km. It passes through 39 protected areas in 7 states of India. The Western Ghats pass through southern India. A biological hotspot can be defined as a biogeographic location where a significant amount of biodiversity exists. Biodiversity hotspots are created through human habitation. There are 4 hotspots in India. The Western Ghats are a biodiversity hotspot as these mountainous regions are home to nearly 325 endangered species worldwide. It is noteworthy that nearly 5,000 species of flowering plants grow in this area. The Western Ghats are also home to 139 mammal species and 179 amphibian species. Besides, 508 species of exotic birds are found in this area. The Western Ghats region is referred to as a biodiversity hotspot as it is home to many different species of animals, birds, plants and endangered species.
