How many posts are there in SSC CGL?

In 1975, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) was constituted. SSC conducts the CGL Exam to select Group B and C officers for various jobs in major ministries, divisions, and organisations of the Government of India.

Eligibility: Candidates applying for the various positions must have a bachelor's degree from a recognised university. The required age range is 20 to 30 years. The age restrictions may differ based on the position. For example, in September 2018, the age limit for the Inspector of the Central Bureau of Narcotics was expanded to 30 years from 27 years. For 2017, the application cost was Rs. 100. All female applicants, as well as those from scheduled castes and tribes, those with physical disabilities, and ex-servicemen, are exempt from paying the application fee.

Paper Structure: The test includes various levels that are held on separate days, with results provided after each tier. Previous tests featured an interview tier; however, from January 1, 2016, all non-gazetted central government positions were exempt from interviews due to a government directive. A computer competency or skill exam was also implemented as a tier for some positions. There are four levels of examination.

Tier I: Preliminary

The Tier I test is a written, objective, multiple-choice exam with four sections covering the areas:

• General Intelligence and Reasoning

• General Awareness

• Quantitative Aptitude

• English Comprehension

The test was generally graded with a maximum of 50 marks for each segment for 200 marks. The most recent editions of this exam, such as in 2018, were administered online. Qualified applicants can take the Tier II and Tier III tests based on their Tier I exam scores.

Tier II: Main Examination

The Tier II exam, often known as the Mains Exam, comprises three exams (also called "papers") of written objective multiple-choice questions.

The Data Entry Speed Test (DEST) requires candidates to enter data at a pace of 2000 keystrokes per minute for 15 minutes. This is mainly for jobs like tax assistants. (Income Tax and Central Excise).

The Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) covers word processing, spreadsheets, and creating presentations.

Specific roles demand further testing. Among the varieties are:
